Bottom Line

This mid-range boutique hotel in the suburb of Puteaux is a good value thanks to its location on the outskirts of Paris. In-the-know repeat guests keep coming back to the calm neighborhood that sits close to the metro for a quick ride into the City of Lights. The hotel's exterior and signage is distinctly purple, but the lobby contains wood furnishings and classic touches that lend a cozy feel. This is where guests can sip free coffee and tea and enjoy a range of international newspapers. During warmer months, the pretty outdoor patio is a great spot for breakfast (served for a fee) or evening aperitifs. The 37 rooms come with either twin or double beds (no suites here), decorated in warm tones and adorned with wall hangings depicting Parisian scenes. Each room has a minibar, flat-screen TV and a special fragrance lamp that can diffuse one of five scents: natural touch, tonic, relaxing, gourmet and sensual. The bathrooms are a fun surprise, as they have contemporary style and special lighting effects in the walk-in showers. Wi-Fi is free.

Hotel le Dauphin

Location

Located in the western suburb of Puteaux -- just a few minutes to Paris by metro

First and foremost, it should be noted that Hotel Le Dauphin is not in the center of Paris. It is instead located in the suburb of Puteaux -- a quiet, tidy area bordering "La Defense", which is known as the business district of Paris. While this suburb isn't far from the city center, it will take a metro ride to get to the sights. Guests can access the L'Esplanade metro stop near the hotel. The neighborhood quiets down in the evenings and weekends when the working crowd has left the premise. Some of La Defense's best restaurants are therefore closed on the weekends, but Puteaux boasts a plethora of international cuisine options, so ask a member of the friendly hotel staff for suggestions. Also be on the lookout for modern art displays situated in and around the streets.

  • 29-minute drive to Orly Airport (ORL)
  • 30-minute drive to Charles de Gaulle International Airport (CDG)
  • 11-minute drive to L'Arc de Triomphe
  • 13-minute drive to Theatre Marigny
  • 13-minute drive to Grand Palais
  • 14-minute drive to Theatre des Champs-Elysees
  • 16-minute drive to Tuileries Gardens
  • 17-minute drive to the Eiffel Tower
  • 18-minute drive to Palais Garnier, Place d'Opera
  • 19-minute drive to Musee d'Orsay
  • 19-minute drive to Gare Du Nord (Eurostar)
  • 20-minute drive to the Louvre Museum
  • 22-minute drive to Sacre Coeur
  • 23-minute drive or 55-minute walk to Notre Dame Cathedral
