Hotel Monte Carlo

Scene

This budget property is bright and convenient.

Tucked into a four-story building surrounded by storefronts and cafes, Hotel Monte Carlo looks a little rundown from the outside but inside it is brightly colored and welcoming. Entering through glass doors featuring a pair of bronze cats, guests find a brass chandelier hanging in front of the small reception desk and walls are painted bright orange and sea green. There are plenty of colorful paintings on the walls and trinkets lined on the open loft overhead. The small breakfast area has no windows but is also bright orange and full of colorful paintings, cute light fixtures, and small wooden tables. There is a tiny elevator but no bar or restaurant and no outdoor area. Guests vary greatly in age and nationality. Most are tourists but there are a few business travelers even though the hotel is not equipped with a meeting room or business center.

Rooms

Clean and colorful, but small with no air-conditioning

Like the lobby and breakfast room, most rooms are decorated in vibrant colors and nice mirrors and curtains. Each room bears the name of a famous city (Prague and Miami, for example) and is equipped with free (but limited) Wi-Fi access, an older model flat-screen TV, a wooden desk and chair, and a small safe. There is no air-conditioning in the rooms but most are equipped with floor fans. Rooms facing the street are subject to some traffic noise. Single rooms share a bathroom in the hall but are equipped with private sinks. Bathrooms in other rooms are extremely compact but are covered from floor to ceiling with vibrantly colored tile and have stand-up showers and hairdryers.
