Geared toward romantic couples and
business travelers, this 27-room, upper-mid-range hotel has a great quiet but central location in the Latin Quarter of Paris. Not only are
several great cafes and restaurants within easy walking distance, but the
beautiful churches and museums of Old Paris are in the immediate vicinity. As
of 2015, most rooms were newly renovated and range from simple singles to more
expensive seventh-floor rooms with king-sized beds and private terraces with
great views of the city.
Scene
Cozy, simple, and elegant
Situated in a beautiful white,
seven-floor building on the corner of two pedestrian streets, the Parc St.
Severin has a classic charm with floral wallpaper and 1950s kick-back
furniture. The small lobby features a few mustard-colored velvet lounge chairs
and tables with a scarce smattering of mini bronze statues. The adjoining
breakfast room features a clean lineup of small wooden tables with blue velvet
lounge chairs against an aqua-colored wall featuring a print of golden paisley
trees. There is a small elevator but no full restaurant, bar, or outdoor area.
Location
In a quiet but central area of the Latin Quarter in Old Paris
Situated on the corner of two narrow, cobblestone pedestrian
streets in the famous Latin Quarter of Old Paris, this hotel is adjacent to the
13th-century Saint-Séverin and a three-minute walk from the Saint-Michel/Notre-Dame
RER station and a four-minute walk to Fontaine
Saint-Michel. Also within the immediate
vicinity are the Cluny museum, the Sorbonne, and the boulevard Saint Germain
with all of its restaurants and shops. The area is nonetheless quiet and
typical of Old Paris. It is a five-minute walk to Notre Dame, 10
minutes to Ile St Louis, and 15 minutes to the Louvre. By public transportation,
the Arc de Triomphe and Eiffel Tower are about 30 minutes away.
Rooms
Rooms with terraces are worth the extra cost.
Most of the rooms at this hotel
had been renovated. Although
they are on the small side, rooms are elegant and immaculate with 50s-inspired
furniture; they also, however, include modern touches not always found in Parisian hotels such as satellite
TV, air-conditioning, free Wi-Fi access, coffee/tea kettles, safes, and
mini-fridges. There are a few single rooms with small beds. The rooms on higher floors
offer amazing and spacious furnished terraces with incredible views of the city. All rooms aside from the singles have bathtubs -- some
are shower/tub combos and others are tubs with low, handheld showerheads.
Features
