The 55-room Hotel Tourisme Avenue is an mid-range boutique property with elegant modern decor but limited amenities. It's situated in the 15th Arrondissement in walking distance to cafes, restaurants, shops, and the Eiffel Tower. Contemporary, wood-floored rooms range from tiny entry-level rooms to three- and four-person suites. Amenities include AC and flat-screen TVs, but mini-fridges and kettles aren't standard. Bathrooms are particularly appealing with rainfall showers, heated towel racks, and toilets with bidet functions. A daily continental breakfast is served up with cooked-to-order add-ons, but it all costs an extra fee. Travelers on the market for splashier decor might consider the nearby Hotel Ares Paris, though amenities are about the same.
Scene
Boutique hotel with elegant modern decor but limited amenities
Hotel Tourisme Avenue is situated in a five-story corner building with a flat white facade. Inside, the lobby offers modern elegance with a marbled floor, lacquered reception desk, and inset parquet flooring that sets the stage for a small sitting area with upholstered armchairs, an ornate fireplace, and a large-scale 17th-century-style portrait. Stairwells offer details like stylish banisters and stained glass windows, though guests can also take the elevator, which is nicely sized for a Paris property. While the quality of the decor (oak parquet floors, marble accents) and concierge-style staff service help this hotel rise above the mid-range masses, features are extremely limited and guest rooms are tiny. With its convenient location and rooms for two to four guests, this hotel hosts a variety of travelers, including couples and families.
Location
Easy walk to Eiffel Tower, cafes, restaurants, and shops
The hotel is situated in a fairly non-touristy part of central Paris, though there's plenty in walking distance, including cafes, restaurants, and shops in the immediate neighborhood. It's also in walking distance to a major Parisian sight: The Eiffel Tower is about 15 minutes away on foot, and the landscaped Champ de Mars on which the tower sits is only a five-minute walk. Guests can also stroll to some of the posh shops and cafes of the 7th Arrondissement in as little as 10 minutes. For sights farther out, the La Motte-Picquet-Grenelle is situated right outside the door (a one-minute walk). This transportation hub offers lines 6, 8, and 10 of the metro plus other public transit. The hotel can arrange airport pickups for an extra fee.- 15-minute walk to the Hotel des Invalides
Rooms
Small, stylish rooms with rainfall showers and bidet-function toilets
Guest rooms are small but stylish and modern thanks in part to major refurbishments around 2014. A neutral color palette covers the space with white walls, beige and brown accents (some rooms add pops of orange or pink), and nice oak wood floors (upgraded rooms feature elegant parquet). Headboards are finished with attached beside tables and gooseneck reading lamps. The modern, white bathrooms are the real boon here -- even entry-level rooms have rainfall showers, heated towel racks, and separate toilet stalls with Toto toilets, which feature heated seats and bidet settings. Rooms are air-conditioned and include desks and wardrobes with storage space and electronic safes. They also have flat-screen TVs and free Wi-Fi. Most rooms come with coffee/tea service (in the form of an electric kettle) and mini-fridges stocked daily with free water, though entry-level rooms lack these extras. Bathrooms include toiletries (some individual, some dispensers) and hairdryers. Entry-level Classic Rooms are tiny, and even upgraded Superiors and Triples are less than 175 square feet, though this isn't out of the ordinary in Paris. Premium Rooms, Junior Suites, and Suites, are more spacious and may add sitting areas, marble bathrooms, bathtubs, or sleeping space for up to four guests.
Features
Daily breakfast for extra fee and helpful staff, but few extra property features
There's no getting around that this property has limited amenities, and feature-wise it's pretty much comparable to the plethora of other mid-range hotels in Paris. There's a nice breakfast room where a daily continental breakfast is served. Guest say it's good but standard -- fresh fruit, boiled eggs, bread, and yogurt -- plus it costs an extra fee. Cooked-to-order eggs are also available. A small patio outside the hotel offers some options for outdoor eating. The hotel has no full-service restaurant or bar (though there are plenty on the block). The front desk is open 24 hours and staff offer concierge services like arranging for tickets, airport transfers, car service, luggage storage (free), laundry service, or even babysitting. Wi-Fi throughout the property is free.
