Bottom Line

The two-and-a-half-pearl Le Trente is a clean and contemporary hotel in the hip Batignolles neighborhood near cafes, restaurants, and trendy shops, and a five-minute walk from the metro. The hotel is a solid option for those who don’t mind staying a bit far (about 25 minutes by public transportation) from the main Paris sights. Property features are limited to a lobby library, outdoor courtyard patio, and well-reviewed continental breakfast buffet (for a fee). The 31 guest rooms are in good condition, though some are a bit small. Room amenities are extensive, with flat-screen TVs, safes, mini-fridges, electric kettles, and free Wi-Fi in all rooms. As an alternative, the nearby Art Hotel Batignolles has lower rates and pleasant rooms.

Le Trente

Scene

Simple, contemporary hotel with outdoor courtyard patio that draws leisure travelers

Opened in 2016, Le Trente is housed in a six-floor white building on a cobblestone street. The hotel's name means 30 in French, which is also the hotel's street number. The lobby is a well-lighted contemporary space with big mirrors, wood paneling and furniture, shelves of books, and a small reception desk with flat-screen TV behind it. A small, fairly stylish sitting area features more books, violet-colored mod-style armchairs, a globe, public computer, and large flat-screen TV. Guests gather here to read and converse, and also congregate on the landscaped outdoor courtyard patio with a stone wall, tables, and chairs. The hotel draws mostly budget-minded tourists to its simplicity, clean amenities-filled rooms, breakfast buffet, and location in the charming Batignolles neighborhood.

Location

Secluded location in trendy Batignolles near dining and shopping, a five-minute walk from metro

Le Trente is on a cobblestone side street in the 17th Arrondissement in Batignolles, a former working class neighborhood that is opening to tourists. The area is filled with gardens, open-air markets, hip shops and galleries, cafes, and a variety of restaurants (including many frequented by locals). It’s a little bit out of the way for sightseeing, but the area is quiet, with a nice Parisian atmosphere. Public transportation is close at hand: the Marche des Batignolles bus stop is a three-minute walk, the Brochant metro is a little less than five minutes on foot, and Pont Cardinet train station is a little more than a five-minute walk. Both the Square des Batignolles and Parc Clichy-Batignolles - Martin-Luther-King parks are within five minutes on foot. Montmartre attractions aren’t too far away, both the Moulin Rouge and Montmartre Cemetery are about 10 minutes by metro or a 15-minute walk, and Sacre Coeur Cathedral is about 20 minutes by bus. The area with the Palais Garnier Opera House and Galeries Lafayette department store is 15 minutes by bus. The Arc de Triomphe and The Louvre are about 25 to 30 minutes by metro. It would take an hour to walk to the Eiffel Tower, or it's a 30-minute drive. Charles de Gaulle Airport is 25 minutes by car or an hour by a combination of bus and RER train from Le Trente.

Rooms

Contemporary rooms with mini-fridges, electric kettles, and free Wi-Fi

The 31 guest rooms at Le Trente feature a contemporary, minimalist look that comes off as a bit under-decorated. Walls are completely bare and the white, light gray, beige, and brown color palette isn’t visually stimulating -- but there are graphic-print throw pillows and decorative throws on the all-white bedding. Amenities are extensive for this level of hotel: each of the rooms comes with a flat-screen TV, safe, mini-fridge, electric kettle, and free Wi-Fi. Irons are available upon request. Some rooms have sofas. Note that Single Rooms are tiny. Bathrooms have a contemporary look with distinctive square wash basins. All have hairdryers and showers (no bathtubs). Some bathrooms are a bit cramped, with limited counter space around the sink. Flowers planted in front of the windows are a particularly nice touch.
