Bottom Line

The Rochester Champs-Elysees Hotel is a sophisticated, upscale property about 10 minutes' walk from its famous, namesake street. The 106-room hotel has a small spa with a Turkish Bath, a British-inspired cocktail bar, and a small gym in a vaulted cellar. Each morning, and until early afternoon, an incredible breakfast buffet is available for a fee. Corporate travelers may appreciate the large business center and meeting room with glass ceiling. Many guest rooms are spacious -- a rare luxury in Paris -- and all have DVD players. While there is plenty of shopping and dining within the immediate area of the hotel, the Saint-Philippe-du-Roule metro station is around the corner for easy access to the rest of the city. As an alternative, the Secret de Paris hotel is pricier but offers rooms with jetted double tubs.

Rochester Champs-Elysees Hotel

Scene

A chic setting with sophisticated lounges and colorful decor

From the gold revolving doors to the sprawling, marble-floored lobby, the first impression of the Rochester Champs-Elysees Hotel is full-blown elegance. The lobby is partitioned from the rest of the common areas with an alluring, eggplant-hued recess with futuristic, high-backed gray sofas. Lounge areas are full of ottomans and seating in unexpected patterns and colors, such as gold flock-pattern and solid bright orange. Also, every area of this place has expertly executed mood lighting; it’s dim and sexy in some places, and bright and welcoming in others. The lobby is bathed in a Champagne-colored tint while the meeting room is alert with sunshine from the atrium ceiling. Interior-facing rooms overlook a picturesque courtyard with a stone fountain, potted greenery, and wrought-iron furniture. Guests are mostly couples, as the hotel has a certain romantic opulence, along with business travelers and families looking to up the style factor.

Location

A seven-minute walk away from the Champs-Elysees and surrounded by luxury shops

The Rochester Champs-Elysees Hotel faces Rue La Boetie, and it's a seven-minute walk to its namesake landmark street, and about 10 minutes on foot to the Grand Palais. The neighborhood is in the heart of tourist activity, with couture boutiques on Rue du Faubourg Saint-Honore, and a host of international embassies and presidential palaces nearby. Highly rated restaurants are literally right outside of the hotel -- including Japanese cuisine at Jipangue -- and the Saint-Philippe-du-Roule metro station is around the block. The scenic Parc Monceau is a 10-minute walk, and the Arc de Triomphe is less than 20 minutes away on foot. Reaching the Eiffel Tower takes a bit longer: It's 24 minutes via the metro or a lengthy 30-minute hike on foot. Charles de Gaulle Airport is a 33-minute drive away.

Features

Wellness Center in a vaulted cellar, excellent meeting room, and buffet breakfast served until late

The Rochester Champs-Elysees Hotel is a great pick for business travelers, not only due to the atrium-ceilinged meeting room equipped with a projector and speakerphone, but also for the large business center that can double as a small conference room. The on-site gym is really just a few machines and a small weight rack, but it’s still functional for basic needs. The gym and spa, with Turkish Bath and massage treatment room, are located in a vaulted cellar with great ambiance. A huge, daily breakfast buffet is available for a fee until early afternoon, and room service is available for those who don’t want to make the trek to the breakfast room. While there isn’t a restaurant on-site, there's a full-service bar that serves cocktails in the evening.
