Marriott's MountainSide is a split timeshare property on the mountain next to the Park City ski slopes. The ski-in, ski-out upper-middle-range hotel has 361 large, comfortable rooms, an extensive fitness center, a good-size lobby with a fireplace, and an outdoor whirlpool hot tub with rock features. However, there's no on-site dining options, meaning guests will either need to cook for themselves (all rooms have kitchens or kitchenettes) or dine out in one of the Park City restaurants, many of which are within walking distance.
Scene
Lodge-style buildings overlooking the slopes
Adirondack rocking chairs in front of the drive-in carport create a comfy environment that's continued in the lobby, which has faux-stone columns, high ceilings, and rustic, carved-wood furniture, as well as a fireplace on the second floor of an atrium area. Walking paths weave through the property, a collection of buildings with mallard-green wood siding. An outdoor patio overlooks the gondolas, which pass right by the ski-in, ski-out hotel. Not surprisingly, the majority of guests are here for skiing and snowboarding.
Location
Next to the gondolas at Park City and within walking distance of the shopping and downtown area
The Park City gondolas pass by the hotel on the side of the mountain and give access to the extensive number of downhill trails at the ski area; the hotel sits a few minutes’ walk from the shops, restaurants, and food stores of Park City. The Salt Lake City airport is a 45-minute drive away.
Rooms
Plain but comfortable apartment-style suites, most with full kitchen, some with kitchenettes
The rooms consist mainly of apartment-style suites; while decor varies from one unit to the next, modern, powder-coated light fixtures, frosted glass tables, and dark-wood headboards are to be expected. All rooms have safes, makeup mirrors, hairdryers, at least one flat-screen TV, and have either kitchens or kitchenettes. Suites with full kitchens have dishwashers, microwaves, ovens, electric stoves, brushed chrome coffeemakers and toasters, stainless steel cookware, and granite countertops. Kitchenettes have mini-fridges rather than full-size units. Some rooms have stone-accented balconies overlooking the slopes, others have jetted tubs, washer/dryers, and fireplaces.
Features
Convenience store, spa, whirlpool hot tub, kids' play area, and extensive fitness center
One of the Marriott's prettiest features is its outdoor multi-pool hot tub with a stone waterfall. It overlooks the slopes and is adjacent to a heated swimming pool. The property also offers plenty of activities for children, including apres-ski s’mores making and a dedicated indoor play area. Other amenities include a convenience store with basic supplies, a lounge area with a fireplace, and an extensive fitness room with a large selection of cardio and weight machines along with free weights. The hotel also has a gear valet that will store skis, boots, and boards. Wi-Fi is free throughout, as is parking, though it's limited to one car per room.
