Bottom Line

Set upon a picturesque hillside a 15-minute walk from Kolymbithres Beach, this three-pearl hotel has plenty of features for kids and adults. Unfortunately, it has seen better days, and while the rooms are clean, they feature dated decor and old amenities like tube TVs. Additionally, it's a 15-minute drive into Naoussa and there's not much nearby. Amenities include a tennis court, two restaurants, mini-mart, and kids' club. The private beach has a sleek terrace for tanning plus a beach bar with hammocks, and there's a pool with a water park for kids as well. Travelers who'd prefer to be closer to the action in Naoussa should consider the family-friendly Manis Inn, which is only a five-minute walk from town, but a bit pricier.

Porto Paros Hotel & Villas

Scene

A large, family-friendly hotel overlooking the Aegean sea, though style can be dated

Beautifully located in the stunning hills of Paros Island, this hotel has a relaxed atmosphere that's suitable for most travelers, especially families, couples, and Italian-speaking guests. Expect a quiet atmosphere during the day, though things get a little more lively at night. Unfortunately, being satisfied here may mean overlooking some seriously dated style in places. The spacious main building -- with its whitewashed exteriors and traditional dark wood shutters -- offers a quintessential Greek feel at first glance. This follows through into the bright two-story lobby, decorated with soft white furnishings and potted plants, plus classic elements like stone ceilings and walls. The grounds and pathways are lined with colorful flowers and tropical palm trees, while a traditional pony cart adds a rustic touch. The large pool area and private beach are both ideal locations to take in the sea views, however some of the buildings and public areas can feel a bit dated, worn down, or spartanly furnished, all of which are common complaints from previous guests.

Location

On a private beach in Paros' hills, a 15-minute drive to Naoussa

Overlooking the gulf of Naoussa, Karma Porto Paros has a prime location for sun-seekers and beach lovers. Set within the beautiful hills of an island which was once famed for its coveted white marble, it's a 15-minute walk to Kolymbithres Beach, Monastiri Beach, and the Agios Ioannis Detis Church, while Piperi Beach is just 10-minutes away by car. This hotel also has its own private beach, with sun loungers, umbrellas, and a sleek sun terrace that's ready-made for tanning. Despite its stunning hillside location, Karma Porto Paros is quite remote and not within easy walking distance to the shops, bars, and restaurants of Naoussa village. However, there is a daily shuttle service available for all guests, and a drive there will take about 15 minutes. Expect a 20-minute drive to the ferry part in Paros town, and a 30-minute drive to the island's airport.

Rooms

Traditionally decorated rooms with balconies or terrace, though with some outdated amenities

The 226 rooms at Karma Porto Paros come with either garden or sea views as well as balconies or terraces with a seating area. Rooms are predominately white and have a traditional style that can look a bit dated. Decor includes marble floors and simple watercolors to add a subtle pop of color, plus heavy patterned drapes that don't look very fresh. The wood-effect furniture in the Standard Rooms comes in unintentionally retro hues, while the cream-colored Villa furniture looks a bit more fresh. Each room comes with a twin or double bed, desk and chair, refrigerator, air-conditioning, and safe. Villas include separate living rooms. Basic amenities, such as a tube TVs don't update the overall effect. Most bathrooms have a gray marble finish that looks impressive, though ends up making them a bit dark. They are a little cramped, which might be an issue for families with young children, though they have a decent amount of counter space plus shower/tub combos and basic toiletries. Tube-style hairdryers are -- again -- outdated.

Features

Large pool, private beach, and fun water park for kids

This large beachside hotel manages to pack in a lot of features. One of the big selling points is the private beach, with sun loungers, umbrellas, and a decked sun terrace. The hammocks at the beach bar provide a relaxing shaded respite, while the on-site mini market sells souvenirs and beach essentials. For slightly more energetic activities, there is a tennis court, water park, children's playground, and large area for night-time entertainment. Keep in mind that the hotel caters to Italians, and most of the entertainment reflects that fact. There is also a large pool surrounded by umbrellas and sun loungers, with a smaller pool for kids. The breakfast buffet is served daily, offering hot and cold options, while the on-site restaurant and a la carte taverna serve a variety of local and Western dishes, though food gets mixed reviews, at best. All-inclusive rates are available. There is also a laundry service, a 24-hour front desk, and Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel.
