Bottom Line

The upscale, 567-room Holiday Inn Pattaya, in the heart of Pattaya city, sits across the street from the beach. Modern, airy rooms have balconies with beautiful water views, and most bathrooms have rainfall showers. The hotel has four beautiful outdoor pools -- some infinity-style -- and five on-site restaurants and bars, a free kids' club, a fitness center and sauna, and a spa. Several of the common areas, however, get crowded with guests, and pick up outdoor traffic noise. Be aware that Wi-Fi is free only for IHG members and guests in Executive Club Rooms.

Holiday Inn Pattaya

Scene

A busy contemporary hotel with marvelous bay views

Green-glass balconies line two modern but plain towers, each with its own open, airy lobby with artful light fixtures and vibrant furniture complementing their cool styling. Wood tones and pastel walls create a calm vibe in the spa, which has a large outdoor relaxation area with exceptional water views. All restaurants have outdoor seating, high ceilings, and either industrial or mod decor, and the rooftop bar offers wonderful, panoramic Gulf of Thailand views. Traffic noise reaches many of the common areas, somewhat spoiling the otherwise relaxed vibe. With its Family Suites, kids' club, and Kids Eat and Stay Free program, the Holiday Inn Pattaya unsurprisingly draws lots of families, but couples match them in numbers, and the hotel is popular with business and solo travelers too.

The Central Festival Pattaya Beach is about a five-minute drive from the hotel. Rooms

Bright and modern, with balconies and lovely gulf views from many rooms

The 567 rooms at the Holiday Inn Pattaya are bright and airy, with a light, contemporary style that deviates little across room categories. Rooms also feature furnished balconies with gorgeous water views from most rooms, and some have large living rooms and Executive Club access. Floor-to-ceiling windows add natural light, while white walls, light wood furniture, and white tile floors give rooms their distinctively bright character. Several rooms have stylish, gray mod seating or woven rattan-style chairs and white marble-top end tables, while light blue panels in wooden statement headboards pick up the colors in the generic abstract art on the walls. Family Suites include colorful kids' rooms with whale-shaped beds. All rooms are air-conditioned, and come with flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, coffeemakers, free bottled water, and homey comforts like bathrobes and slippers. Kids' rooms have game consoles. Most bathrooms have light tile and mood lighting, and glassed-in rainfall showers; a few have tubs. Magnifying mirrors and toiletries are provided.
