Bottom Line

In a building formerly occupied by the Four Seasons, The Logan is a 391-room luxury hotel that skews business but also attracts some tourists, owing largely to its solid location at Logan Circle. Modern rooms are outfitted with great amenities, including Keurig coffeemakers, iPhone/Android docks, and robes, plus some have tubs in addition to rainfall showers. The hotel is known for its excellent dining and drinking options, in particular the hip steakhouse Urban Farmer and wonderful rooftop bar Assembly. Wellness facilities are also outstanding here, consisting of a high-end spa, a beautiful indoor heated pool, and a well-equipped fitness center. Overall, there's little to fault with this property, though travelers looking for somewhere more traditional could consider the historic Warwick Hotel Rittenhouse Square instead, though it lacks a pool.

Oyster Hotel Review

The Logan Philadelphia, Curio Collection by Hilton

Scene

Elegant, contemporary hotel that's popular with business travelers and tourists alike

Formerly the Four Seasons, this hotel reopened at the end of 2015 under its new branding and ownership by Hilton. The lobby is elegant and formal, but still leans toward the look and feel of a business hotel, with tile floors and a neutral color scheme dominated by hues of beige and tan-tinged gray. The mix of recessed lighting, wall sconces, and suspended lanterns make the space contemporary yet warm, while a couple of steampunk-style ceiling fixtures showcasing 19th-century portraits suspended from an industrial steal base are a funky touch. A lovely blue area rug and a life-sized nude sculpture add to the artsy vibe, and a plush seating area with a large fireplace, big windows, and lots of leather accents make the space inviting. Though most of the other common areas remain purely corporate-luxury, the hotel’s main restaurant, Urban Farmer, has a completely different atmosphere and design, with farm-chic details such as exposed brick walls, barn doors, and industrial-style lighting. It is a popular dining option for locals and guests alike, and the vibe is lively both at lunch and dinner. The rooftop lounge, Assembly, is also a hotspot of Philly’s nightlife scene thanks to its panoramic views and solid drink menu.

The hotel draws plenty of business travelers, but its upscale rooms, central location, and wonderful amenities make it a popular pick among leisure visitors as well, including many families.

Rooms

Modern rooms with hip touches, marble bathrooms, and mini-fridges

The Logan offers a range of rooms and suites, primarily differentiated by views, size, and bed configurations. Decor is modern and streamlined in all, consisting of gray carpeting, accent walls, and blackout drapes with gray plush furniture to match. It's all paired with dark, local wall art such as abstract chrome-colored paintings of animals and dark photographic prints. Although the rooms feel a bit corporate, they're full of warm touches such as wood-finish cabinets, padded leather-finish headboards in chocolatey tones, and yellow-green throw cushions on the beds. Superior Rooms have views out over the quiet courtyard, while others offer great Swann Fountain views. A few suites have balconies.

All rooms come with Keurig coffeemakers, 42-inch flat-screen TVs, safes big enough for laptops, iPhone/Android docks with Bluetooth connectivity, and free Wi-Fi. Mini-fridges are also provided, but stocked minibars are not available in any category. Suites add pullout sofas and dining tables, and two-bedroom Family Suites are outfitted with bunk beds. The hotel also offers accessible rooms in a range of categories for travelers with hearing and mobility accessibility needs.

Bathrooms have either shower/tub combos or walk-in showers, and some suites have both a shower and separate deep soaking tub in a huge marble bathroom. Standard bathroom amenities include lighted magnifying mirrors, robes, hairdryers, and a range of hotel-brand toiletries, with upgrades such as L'Occitane toiletries in suites.
