Sea views from this luxurious oceanfront property are a major attraction for couples of all ages looking for a romantic retreat. The full apartments themselves are as beautiful as the views outside, with sleek Italian decor, attractive private plunge pools, and west-facing terraces with ocean views across the bay. This resort offers on-site cooking classes and a good choice of Thai and international food from the poolside restaurant, plus a spa and fitness center. Unfortunately, though, there is no direct beach access. There's not much like Kata Rocks in the area, but travelers wanting private plunge pools in a more traditional package might try the Malisa Villa Suites instead.
Scene
Design-conscious oceanfront resort with coastal views and lively sunset restaurant
There aren't a ton of high-end hotels in the Kata area, so the combination of handsome style and panoramic views of the Andaman Sea and nearby Koh Pu Island are a real delight for those willing to shell out the cash. Contemporary design is at the heart of this resort, and interiors all features streamlined Italian decor done in light, beachy tones. Reminiscent of the exclusive sunset terraces found in Ibiza, the resort’s large infinity pool overlooks the ocean and has a sparkling deck area with sleek white sun-loungers, restaurant seating, and visiting musicians often playing at night. Kata Rocks is ideally located for viewing Phuket’s spectacular sunsets with a signature cocktail and free Mediterranean-inspired tapas served in the evening on the poolside terrace. This lively apart-hotel is popular with couples of all ages and attracts affluent guests looking for an eye-catching resort close to Kata Beach. The larger apartments would suit couples traveling in groups or families with older children.
Location
Ocean-view resort close, a five-minute walk from Kata Beach and town
While the resort feels secluded on its rocky oceanside outcropping, it's actually quite close to civilization. It's only a five-minute walk to a pedestrian access point to Kata Beach, and the road that parallels the sand is lined with shops, bars, and restaurants. While the resort’s on-site restaurant offers an excellent choice of a la carte food, guests looking for variety might try nearby Mom Tri's Kitchen at Villa Royale, just an eight-minute walk away. The larger Karon Beach is a 10-minute drive away and Patong Beach, with its lively bars, is a 20-minute drive. Those looking to explore the area’s many islands in style can charter a private yacht from the hotel for sightseeing, game fishing, and scuba diving excursions. The apartments have beautiful views, but postcard-worthy sunsets can also be viewed at Promthep Cape, an 18-minute drive from the resort. It's a 33-minute drive to Phuket Town and at least an hour to Phuket International Airport by car, depending on traffic.
Rooms
Sharp oceanfront apartments with private pools, sea-view terraces, and Italian minimalist interiors
These spacious and sleek apartments have generous open floor plans that are bright and breezy, with even massive entry-level Ocean Loft Sky Villas spanning 134 square meters (1442 square feet). All include living rooms and large outdoor terraces with sea views and private infinity pools. The minimalist interiors are created by luxurious Italian decor including Natuzzi furniture and Snaidero kitchens with glass worktops. Cream, gray, and white tones give the apartments a sharp edge, though the look is entirely minimalistic. Standard features include free Wi-Fi, two HD LCD televisions, Nespresso machines, and an iPad-controlled entertainment system. Bedrooms feature goose down bedding, desks, and electronic safes. The Spa Villas add romantic private couples treatment rooms, while the Penthouse has a large pool and can sleep up to nine. En-suite bathrooms are decorated with monochrome tiling and have a separate soaking tub and walk-in shower. Kata Rocks products are plentiful, as are fluffy white robes and towels. An audio and television system completes the decadent bathing set-up. State-of-the-art kitchens have an oven, stovetop, full-size refrigerator, dishwasher, washing machine, and a Verasu wine cabinet. Terraces are furnished with padded loungers and shaded sofa beds. Some villas have spiral staircases which might deter guests with limited mobility.
