Bottom Line

Housed in a beautifully renovated 17th-century building, the Barcelo Old Town Praha is an upscale chain hotel with 62 modern rooms and suites. Rooms are spacious and clean, some have exposed wooden beams. Its location is ideal, in the heart of Old Town within walking distance to Old Town Square and the Astronomical Clock Tower. There’s no spa or fitness center at the hotel, but common areas are posh, and there’s a bar and restaurant serving Czech and international cuisine. Those willing to spend a little more may also want to consider the Savic Hotel, an upscale, boutique hotel also in a convenient location, a five-minute walk to Old Town Square.

Barceló Old Town Praha

Scene

Classic facade with chic lobby and modern restaurant

The Barcelo has a classic facade with a large semi-arched entryway crowned by a golden angel statue. Inside, sleek glass tables situated around gray suede couches and shag carpets create a chic seating area for guests in the atrium-style lobby. Vaulted ceilings outside the restaurant give hallways a historic feel. Inside the Bohemica Old Town Restaurant and Bar, wooden floors and potted trees add hints of natural elements that mix with swanky furnishings such as black-and-white pillows with swirly patterns and large photos of wine glasses. The bar is covered with a large lighted picture of blades of grass and seating is available at high-top glass tables. There are a few Czech beers on tap and a cooler holds bottles of wines available for purchase.
