Jalta Boutique Hotel

The hotel has a traditional look with modern tweaks. The dimly lit, marble-floored lobby is lined with brown velvet sofas, while the striking front desk is perforated with a bubble pattern. The popular Como Restaurant and Cafe is an expansive, elegant space with white tablecloths, green columns with strips of gray-and-black floral wallpaper, a black O-shaped chandelier, and a grand spiral staircase. The sophisticated and luxurious atmosphere encourages guests to linger.

The hotel is centrally located in New Town, just off the main street that overlooks Wenceslas Square, surrounded by restaurants and within walking distance of many attractions. It’s around the corner from the National Museum, and a 15-minute walk to such attractions as the Church of Our Lady Before Tyn and Charles Bridge. It’s a 25-minute drive to the Vaclav Havel Airport, which takes about 40 minutes via public transportation. It’s also about a five- to 10-minute walk to Prague’s main train station.

The hotel’s 94 rooms are pleasant and smartly decorated with plush fabrics, velvet floral throw pillows, and a beige-and-brown color scheme. But some of the decor could use freshening up. The bathrooms are spacious, with long built-in vanities and shower/tub combos. Superior Deluxe Rooms have views of Wenceslas Square. Suites are spacious and include living rooms, Nespresso coffee machines, and free breakfast delivery, as well as bathrooms with separate bathtubs and showers, though the views are not as nice as those from the Superior Deluxe Rooms. All rooms include flat-screen TVs, minibars, safes, tea- and coffee-making facilities, free Wi-Fi, and L'Occitane toiletries.  

The Como Restaurant and Cafe serves Mediterranean and Asian cuisine, as well as Czech specialties. The bar, overlooking downtown Prague, has a daily happy hour. The free breakfast buffet includes hot foods, like bacon and eggs. Special offers, such as free airport transfers, are often available when booking via the hotel’s website. Beneath the hotel is a nuclear fallout shelter from the 1950s, which would have served as the the military headquarters of the Warsaw Pact countries. It has been transformed into a Cold War Museum, with free admission for hotel guests, and foreign language tours are available for an additional fee. Several conference rooms are available at the Jalta, and Wi-Fi is free throughout the property.
