The Grand Mark Prague

Fresh flowers and artwork abound in this large, four-story, white stone building that dates back to the 15th-century. The entire structure -- from the ample front lobby, to the sunlit atrium lounge with sofas and patterned slipper chairs, to the lovely patio garden -- is filled with pieces of modern art that enhance the elegant contemporary decor throughout. The original grand interior architecture is preserved, but the property has been fully renovated, and it's illuminated throughout by trendy lighting fixtures. 

The hotel is centrally located within walking distance of most sights and right by the Prague Masaryk railway station where many tram lines and buses stop. The immediate area itself is quiet and filled with apartment and hotel buildings of the same type as the handsome white stone edifice that constitutes the Mark. The property sits a 10-minute walk from Wenceslas Square, which is one of the main shopping areas in the city and is bursting with boutiques, restaurants, and bars. Old Town Square is a 10-minute walk away and Prague Castle can be accessed in about 30 minutes via public transportation or walking.

The spacious and luxurious rooms and suites are outfitted in elegant contemporary decor in neutral hues accented by jewel tones like rich purples and ruby hues. The aesthetic might not suit all tastes, however, and some may find the rooms too busy or flashy. Bedrooms feature large dark wood headboards and plush beds topped with embroidered quilts. The separate living rooms, present in nearly all of the rooms, feature chintz drapes, glass chandeliers sometimes covered by a striking tulle shade, graphic-patterned rugs, velour sofas and armchairs, and sleek dark-wood furniture, with colorful modern art on the walls. Most units also have fully equipped kitchenettes with two-burner stoves, microwaves, stocked minibars and snack bars, Nespresso machines, and tea-making facilities. Large modern bathrooms have both bathtubs and walk-in rainfall showers, plus heated towel racks, fluffy bathrobes and slippers, and a range of high-end toiletries.

Le Grill is a fine dining restaurant, which serves modern Bohemian and international dishes with seasonal ingredients and herbs picked from the hotel's own organic herb garden. A large breakfast buffet (included in the room rate) with a variety of hot dishes made to order is also served here in the mornings, though guests should note that certain items incur additional charges. There's also a bar that features live piano music daily as well as a lovely seasonal garden where guests can dine alfresco. The hotel offers a small fitness center, as well as access to an adjacent spa with a pool, sauna, steam room, and large fitness center. Free bike rentals are available for exploring the city, and the hotel offers several meeting rooms, business services, child care, and free Wi-Fi throughout the property.
