Bottom Line

Sports fans in town for the game and families on a budget make up much of the visitor base at Days Inn Attleboro. The rooms are cheap, and it’s a quick ride to Providence, Pawtucket Stadium, and Gillette Stadium. It’s definitely a no-frills kind of place -- no luxurious linens or gleaming bathrooms here. The microwaves and mini-fridges in most rooms are a nice touch, however. The decor is dated and the feel is overall that of a motel. So if you just need a place to crash for the night and are on a tight budget, it’s worth checking out. If you're a non-smoker, though, make sure you request a non-smoking room (smoking rooms are available).

Oyster Hotel Review

Attleboro Motor Inn

Scene

No frills, but no high price tags either

While technically a hotel, Days Inn has a motel-feel to it. The windows in the rooms open up to hallways (which face the parking lot), so unless you feel like keeping the drapes open and letting everyone that walks by in on your business, you’ll have to make do without natural light. The patterns on the drapes, bedspreads, and carpets are mismatched, and seem like they were left over from the 1980s. The room rates can be extremely cheap, and with its proximity to major sporting events and Providence, Days Inn is convenient. Route 95 runs near the hotel (you can’t hear the traffic) as does the commuter rail from Boston to Providence (you can hear this when it rolls through, as well as Amtrak trains). As long as other guests are quiet and peaceful, it’s actually quite quiet in the rooms -- however, there have been noise complaints about some rowdy guests in the past. Cheap rates can sometimes attract that kind of problem.

There is also a free continental breakfast offered daily in the hotel’s dining room. All the basic fare is there -- cereal, juice, coffee, and pastries. Guests can pick up a free copy of the newspaper on their way out, too.

Location

7 miles from downtown Providence

While it’s actually located in a suburb of Providence (technically in Massachusetts), Attleboro is just a quick drive to downtown Providence. Plus, by staying outside of the city, you can enjoy room rates that are much cheaper. Attleboro itself isn’t exactly a tourist destination, and to be honest, parts of it can seem a downright sketchy at night. But chances are, this is just a place to stay for the night after exploring all the other areas nearby.

On the way into Providence, you’ll pass right by Pawtucket -- baseball fans will already know this, but Pawtucket is home to the Red Sox minor league team (Pawtucket Red Sox, or PawSox as they are called). Head in the other direction and you can catch the Patriots play at Gillette Stadium. Or if music is your thing, the Comcast Center (formerly known as Great Woods and the Tweeter Center) is close by, as well. As for restaurants -- take a right out of the parking lot and you’ll find restaurants in every plaza down the road.

  • 49-minute drive to Boston Logan Airport
  • 25-minute drive to T.F. Green Airport
  • 8-minute drive to Pawtucket, RI
  • 12-minute drive to Providence, RI
  • 14-minute drive to the Providence Performing Arts Center
  • 20-minute drive to Gillette Stadium, home to the New England Patriots
  • 20-minute drive to Comcast Center, (formerly known as the Tweeter Center and Great Woods)
  • 55-minute drive to Newport, RI
  • 55-minute ride on public transportation to Boston’s commuter rail

Rooms

Motel-like rooms with dated decor, although microwaves and mini-frdges are a bonus

What can be said about a budget-chain hotel’s rooms? They’re everything you’d expect -- dated decor with flowery printed bedspreads and drapes that don’t match, tired-looking furnishings and wallpaper, and old tube TVs. However, the beds are comfortable enough, there is air-conditioning (which works as great white noise when the trains are running behind the hotel), and a decent-sized television that gets all the major cable channels (with HBO). Plus, 75 percent of the rooms have microwaves and mini-fridges, which is a nice touch for those who don’t want to have to eat every meal out at one of the area’s many restaurants.

  • Free Wi-Fi
  • Tube TVs with cable and HBO
  • AM/FM alarm clocks
  • Free local calls
  • Most rooms (but not all) have a mini-fridge with microwave
  • Smoking and non-smoking rooms
  • Coffee makers with free tea and coffee
