Bottom Line

In comparison with its neighboring budget-chain hotels, Hampton Inn Seekonk offers a good bang for the buck. The rooms are clean, comfortable, and updated with flat-screen TVs and free Wi-Fi. The daily breakfast is solid, and the seasonal outdoor pool is a perk (though the one at neighboring Comfort Inn is much larger). The area leaves something to be desired (aside from the convenience factor to downtown Providence), but on the upside, if you forgot something at home, there are plenty of stores within a minute’s drive.

Hampton Inn Seekonk

Scene

A step above the other standard chain hotels in the area

Hampton Inn Seekonk may initially seem like just another chain hotel among the masses that make up this area. But it's one that has stepped up its game with updated rooms, and nice common areas. The lobby/breakfast area is furnished with clean, comfortable pieces including leather chairs and a couch, a flat-screen television, and breakfast tables and chairs that you actually want to sit at for breakfast (unlike at some other chain hotels).

There’s a fitness center with good machines, and a small pool outback without much of a view. It’s not luxurious by any means, but it gets the job done when you don’t want to spend a ton of money but want a comfortable and clean place to stay.

Location

In Seekonk, a suburb that's a 12-minute drive from Providence

The hotel is smack dab on Route 6, which is home to stores such as Staples, Walmart, Kohl’s and Target, and just about every fast food and chain restaurant you can imagine. While it’s actually located in Seekonk, a suburb of Providence (technically just over the border in Massachusetts), it's just a quick drive to downtown Providence. Plus, by staying outside of the city, you can enjoy room rates that are much cheaper.

  • 25-minute drive to T.F. Green Airport,
  • 65-minute drive to Boston Logan Airport
  • 2-minute drive to Seekonk Grand Prix and Seekonk Plaza Shopping Center
  • 12-minute drive to Providence
  • 12-minute drive to the Providence Performing Arts Center
  • 40-minute drive to Newport, RI

Rooms

Upgraded rooms are a step up from their competition

The Hampton Inn has done some minor upgrading, and the beds now feature embroidered duvet covers instead of the standard scratchy bedspreads. Furniture is fairly standard chain-hotel style, but it’s clean and sturdy. The microwave/fridge combination is a nice bonus for those who don’t want to eat out every meal. Rooms don’t have much of a view -- either the back of the property or the major roadway out front. The rooms are sound-proofed fairly well, so Route 6-facing rooms aren't terribly noisy.

  • Air-conditioning
  • Free Wi-Fi
  • Flat-screen TVs
  • Microwave and mini-fridge
  • Coffee maker with free coffee and tea
  • Standard shower/tub combo
