  • 24-hour snack shop and on-site laundry

  • Neighborhood can feel a bit sketchy
  • Property shows some wear and tear
  • Shoddy elevator often out of commission
  • Fee for parking

Bottom Line

Although the property did not sustain significant damage during Hurricane Maria and is currently operational, travelers should note that the island of Puerto Rico was significantly impacted by the storm in September 2017. The 135-room Courtyard's Miramar location is convenient for those making a brief stay: It's only a short drive from the airport and the cruise terminal. In many regards, it's just your typical chain hotel -- and a slightly more run-down one at that. Rooms and restaurants show some wear and tear, and the elevator is often out of commission, meaning guests either have to lug their baggage up the stairs or take the service elevator. Families may enjoy the pool, but those looking to be close to the beach may consider staying in Condado or Isla Verde.

Oyster Hotel Review

Located in Miramar, a primarily residential area, near the Puerto Rico Convention Center and the Port of San Juan

The hotel's location in Miramar, a residential area, feels a bit far from popular tourist attractions, shops, and restaurants -- but it is just within walking distance of Condado Beach.

Many visitors of San Juan opt to stay on the beach or in historic Old San Juan. Miramar is more popular among business travelers, thanks to its proximity to the Puerto Rico Convention Center. It is also a short drive from the cruise terminal at the Port of San Juan.
