Bottom Line

Situated a few minutes by car from downtown Rincon, the boutique Tres Sirenas Beach Inn is one of the area’s most polished beachfront hotels. Each of its five rooms features a unique layout and high-end home decor with a beachy twist. They also include free Wi-Fi, kitchenettes (or full kitchens), and private balconies overlooking the Caribbean Sea. Breakfast scores rave reviews and is served on the rooms' balconies, and the lovely pool and quiet, semi-private stretch of Rincon Beach all make this a perennially popular, adult-oriented pick. The nearby Villa Cofresi Hotel offers more amenities and a livelier atmosphere for less, but the aging decor and overall budget feel there may dissuade some.

Scene

Beautiful beachside inn with a quiet, sophisticated vibe

In a corner of Puerto Rico that's packed with surfer dives and budget digs, the Tres Sirenas Inn is a well-liked gem. Things here are quiet and sophisticated, while still maintaining the casual beachside appeal that draws travelers to Rincon in the first place. The modern design pulls subtle inspiration from Spanish adobe and classic Mediterranean architecture. Stucco walls plus terra-cotta tile details bookend an elegant interior that feels lifted from the pages of a Pottery Barn catalog. The pool and adjoining hot tub are small, though adequate given the hotel’s limited capacity. Coupled with the quiet strip of Rincon Beach nearby, guests have more than enough shaded and beachfront space to relax, which is the name of the game at this quiet property. While larger suites feature family-friendly lofts with twin beds, the overall atmosphere is serene and adult-oriented. Guests are most likely to be couples relaxing by the water with a book or afternoon cocktail.

Location

On the beach, less than a five-minute drive from downtown Rincon

The inn sits at the beachfront end of a residential street that intersects with Rincon’s bustling Route 115. Several restaurants, banks, liquor stores, and pharmacies are within a 10-minute walk or a two-minute drive. Two large, modern supermarkets nearby offer sundries for guests to stock their kitchens and kitchenettes. There are dozens more restaurants and shops in downtown Rincon, which takes less than five minutes to reach by car (or around 15 minutes on foot). Rincon’s famous lighthouse and popular Playa Domes beach are just a 10-minute drive away. The nearest airport, Eugenio Maria De Hostos (MAZ), is approximately 25 minutes away by car. However, as a regional airport, flights are limited. Aguadilla’s Rafael Hernandez Airport is 45 minutes away but offers far more flight options. It's worth renting a car at either airport to navigate Puerto Rico's fascinating, arid west. It will take about 90 minutes to reach the stunning La Playuela beach near Cabo Rojo, also home to a nature reserve. San Juan is about two-and-a-half hours back east.

Rooms

Island-home style with beautiful water-view balconies, kitchen facilities, and free Wi-Fi

While each room is individually designed and comes with different features, the overall look is polished, with a good dose of upmarket island-home style. Rich, dark wood furniture, terra-cotta tile floors, tasteful beachy fabrics and upholstery abound, complementing details like rustic travertine countertops and teak accents. The aesthetic is thoughtful, down to tropically inspired paddle fans, antique-inspired silhouettes, and the occasional shabby-chic piece tucked in for a bit of personality.Entry-level Ocean Rooms are spacious and have a traditional hotel-room layout. There's a basic efficiency kitchenette that includes a microwave, sink, coffeemaker, and mini-fridge. The property’s single Ocean Studio upgrades to a larger floor plan with a spacious living room, full kitchen, and beautiful private terrace. The Sea View Apartment and Sea View Penthouse rooms offer expansive, bi-level floor plans. The first floor of each has a spacious living area plus a full gourmet kitchen. A second-floor loft includes two twin or queen beds with enough room to accommodate a total of four to six guests. Both of these rooms also feature large, private balconies with excellent sea views. Additional amenities in every room category include flat-screen TVs with satellite service, air-conditioning, plus fast, free Wi-Fi throughout the property.Bathrooms are nice, if simple. They're compact, with shower/tub combos and pedestal sinks. Upgraded rooms include a split-design bathroom with a separate water closet. Archive brand bath toiletries are standard in every room, though unfortunately there's a lack of usable counter space.

Features

Seaview pool and hot tub, a quiet stretch of Rincon Beach, and excellent free breakfast

While this homey property has a lot to like when it comes to style, there aren't too many features to be had on-site. Still, everything on offer helps make a fine beachside escape. The compact pool and hot tub are surrounded by a handful of lounge chairs and umbrellas that provide shaded relaxation space. Views of the Caribbean Sea -- less than 50 feet away -- are excellent. Nearby, a small lending library provides a selection of books, along with free beach essentials like aloe and sunscreen.Like all Puerto Rican beaches, Rincon Beach is technically public. However, its sheer size ensures plenty of room for hotel guests and non-guests to spread out. Day and night, the strip of sand behind Tres Sirenas Beach Inn is quiet, relaxed, and uncrowded. Except for a handful of Adirondack chairs, the hotel doesn't offer any beach services. While it lacks an on-site restaurant or bar, the inn’s small kitchen serves a hot gourmet breakfast daily on each guest's balcony. It's a popular feature with many of the guests who stay here, and the offerings vary from day to day. A private chef can be arranged for a fee to serve a five-course dinner with wine. Cold beer, wine, and soft drinks are also available for purchase at the front desk. The inn has no dedicated parking lot, though ample on-street parking available. Wi-Fi is free throughout the property.
