Bottom Line

Formerly the Best Western Plus Suites Puerto Vallarta, the property was bought by Park Royal in 2016 and offers a budget beachfront stay about a 30-minute drive from the downtown Puerto Vallarta area. There are elements of lush interior gardens, and a tennis court that overlooks the ocean. Dining options include a seafood and Italian restaurant but, the pool and beach are the highlights here. Budget travelers might want to check out the Hacienda Buenaventura Hotel Spa & Beach Club instead, which is better maintained and cleaner, with nice Mexican-style decor and lush landscaping -- but it's right by a highway.

Grand Park Royal Puerto Vallarta Luxury Resort

Scene

Great views and a nice beach

For those looking to hit up Puerto Vallarta on a budget and who don’t mind being outside of town, this Park Royal Puerto Vallarta offers the bare minimum. Formerly a Best Western that was purchased from the Presidente Continental in 2014, the chain hotel offers beautiful ocean views and a lovely outdoor pool and beach.

The outdoor gardens leading down to the pool are a nice touch, and if you wander between the buildings you come across a man-made waterfall.

Location

Beachfront location 30 minutes south of Puerto Vallarta

The hotel is located about a 30-minute drive south of Puerto Vallarta down the winding coastal road. The remote, beachfront location is quiet and tranquil, but there's not much within walking distance besides a couple of other hotels. Downtown Puerto Vallarta offers a variety of bars and dining options and can be reached by car in a half-hour. The airport is also around a 30-minute drive from the property.
