Puerto de Luna Pet Friendly and Family Suites

Scene

A cute, colorful pet-friendly oasis set on lush tropical grounds

The pet-friendliness of Puerto de Luna is clear from the moment guests first turn in past the cute dog-shaped sign at the entrance. After passing through the vibrant blue tiled gates, a long, palm tree-lined drive with quaint iguana crossing signs takes guests to the colorful lobby. Dogs roam freely among the two-legged guests checking in and out, and pet-friendly perks are scattered about, including a few dog beds for the furry guests who need a rest. Tucked in the corner of the property is a large doggy park with quirky hand-painted signs where pets can run free and play.

The hotel’s grounds are lush and lovely, full of swaying palm trees and tropical plants. A moon theme pops up everywhere, from tiled statues tucked among leaves, to moon decor in the hallways, to charming moon-inspired quotes hand-painted on the walls of the guest rooms. The central pool is a place where couples and families can unwind and get a break from the heat. Even though the hotel sits on a major road, it’s tucked so far back in that guests enjoy nothing but peace and quiet. Puerto de Luna is a great choice for guests who can’t bear to part with their pets while on vacation.

Set off busy Highway 200, the main road running through all of Puerto Vallarta, Puerto de Luna is in a convenient location for exploring the city. The closest beach is behind the properties that sit across the highway from the hotel, about an eight-minute walk away. The center of Puerto Vallarta is a 10-minute drive or taxi ride away. Here, guests will find the landmark Parish of Our Lady of Guadalupe church, as well as the Malecon, the lively oceanfront promenade that runs the length of the city, and features public artworks, evening food vendors, restaurants, bars, and shops. Playa Los Muertos, one of the city’s most popular beaches, is at the southern end of the Malecon, a 15- to 20-minute drive from the hotel. Licenciado Gustavo Diaz Ordaz International Airport is a 10-minute drive away.

Pleasant rooms with basic amenities, plus suites with kitchens and balconies

The hotel’s blue color scheme and moon-themed decor carry into its guest rooms, adding a bit of charm and life to what are otherwise fairly basic quarters, with tile floors and simple wood furnishings. Basic bathrooms come with a few simple toiletries and showers (no tubs). There are only a handful of lights, leaving rooms feeling a bit dim.
