Crowne Plaza Redondo Beach & Marina

This five-story Crowne Plaza is situated in a busy pedestrian area across the street from the Pacific Ocean. The covered entrance is wide, with outdoor seating on both sides of the front door. The hotel pays homage to the sea in abstract imagery of the ocean that graces the walls of the lobby, guest rooms, and hallways. Brushed-silver pillars accent the spacious lobby, which is decorated in a neutral color scheme with turquoise and brushed golds and silvers. Driftwood and glass shell sculptures are placed by elevators and in public spaces, and exterior spaces have local potted succulents. Surf guitar (Dick Dale) music is played in the lobby. Seating areas, including low-lying leather couches and long tables lined with leather stools, allow groups to gather, and a sit-down concierge desk is in the lobby. Guests include a mix of foreign tourists, airline crews, and business travelers keen on soaking up the ocean scenery from the seat of a bike or on foot. 

The Crowne Plaza Redondo Beach & Marina is situated across the street from the Pacific Ocean, and the Redondo Beach Marina is also just across the street. A small Lagoon Beach is next door to the marina and is a good place for families to enjoy the beach in a safe atmosphere, behind a gated fence. There are countless restaurants all along the biking and walking path by the ocean, and the famous Redondo Beach Pier is a 15-minute walk away. It's a pedestrian neighborhood, and most everything a traveler needs is within walking distance. It's about a 25-minute drive from Los Angeles International Airport, so it is convenient for air travelers, including airline crews. Downtown L.A. is about a 40-minute drive away, depending on traffic. 

Rooms were renovated in 2013 and are done in soothing neutral color schemes consisting of soft grays and blues accented with subtle silvers, abstract beachy prints, dark-wood furniture, and light-wood paneling. All rooms have flat-screen TVs, single-cup coffeemakers, mini-fridges, safes, free newspapers, and Crowne Plaza's signature Sleep Advantage program with premium bedding and aromatherapy. Guests who upgrade to the executive floor get better views and access to the Club Lounge with morning breakfast and evening cocktails. Views are of the pool, the city, or the marina. But those ocean panoramas can also include views of the parking lot and street. Some rooms also have small, furnished balconies. Bathrooms are clean and modern with warm lighting and light-wood laminate floors, along with shower/tub combos and Temple Spa toiletries. 

The SOL Restaurant serves all meals including a breakfast buffet; cuisine is northern Mediterranean with a California flair. Splash bar and patio overlooks the water, and guests can dine inside or out in cozy seating areas. In the lobby, Harbor Bar+Bistro serves drinks and light fare. The large, rectangular, unheated outdoor pool is surrounded by lounge chairs and umbrellas, and there's a hot tub. The ocean is adjacent to the pool, but across the street, and a tennis court is on the other side of the pool. Combined, they create a picturesque setting for the rooms with pool views. The well-lit business center in the lobby has computers and a printer for guests to use, and there are 11 meeting rooms that can accommodate up to 800 people. The hotel is popular for weddings and social events. The Body Etc. spa offers a variety of treatments, including massage, facials, body treatments, and waxing. The fitness center has two rooms, one for cardio and one for weight training. Towels and bottled water are kept in the fridge for a refreshing post-workout treat. There's also a Wellness Station by the front desk providing healthy snacks and cold fruit-infused water. Guests can rent bikes on-site, and there's a 21-mile biking and walking path just outside the hotel. On Friday evening and Saturday morning, free yoga classes are offered to guests and locals. An on-site laundry room provides convenience for do-it-yourselfers, and a gift shop sells souvenirs, snacks, cards, toys, and books.
