Black Pearl – Reykjavik Finest Apartments stands out on a street of nondescript buildings thanks to its bold, five-story black facade and large geometric-inspired windows. It was built in 2013, and everything looks brand new. The interiors are contemporary in style, featuring modern Scandinavian design aspects. The small lobby is understated and minimalist, punctuated by squares and rectangle shapes created by the sharp angles of the black leather sofas, a square brown rug, box-like shelves, large flat-screen TV, and neon lights that frame the walls. With its high price tag, the property is clearly geared toward high-end travelers and is popular with couples visiting the city as tourists. The spacious suites and fully-equipped kitchens also attract families looking for the conveniences of apartment-style accommodations.

This property is located on a quiet residential street in the center of Reykjavik, surrounded by other apartment buildings. From here, the city can be easily explored on foot. The Reykjavík Art Museum is just a block away, and the Volcano House Exhibition Center is directly across the street. Reykjavik Harbor is a four-minute walk away, and the trendy Old Harbor district is nine-minutes away on foot. There are also many restaurants, bars, and shops to choose from in the immediate vicinity. Laugavegur, the city’s best known shopping street, is a five-minute drive from here. Reykjavik Airport can be reached in eight minutes by car. 

The 10 exceptionally spacious and bright suites at Black Pearl feature open-plan sleeping, living, and dining areas, and are tastefully done in modern decor with a contemporary finish. The color palette is done in crisp white, gray, and black tones, and marble floors are heated. Spotless kitchens are fully-equipped with gas burners, ovens, microwaves, and dishwashers. Full-size refrigerators are stocked with drinks and snacks. Luxurious extras include Nespresso machines with a complete selection of coffee pods, large flat-screen TVs, and iPads. Spacious bathrooms have luxurious walk-in showers with rainfall showerheads, towel warmers, and Azzaro toiletries. Balconies are set with tables and chairs so guests can admire scenic views over the city; some have sea views. The Deluxe Suites and Penthouse have private elevators connected to the parking garage on the lower level. Wi-Fi is provided for free in all of the rooms. Suites are serviced daily by housekeeping, and turndown service can be provided. 

Black Pearl lacks the amenities of larger hotels, like a swimming pool, on-site restaurant, or fitness center. However, guests do have access to the nearby Laugar Spa, a luxury health and spa resort with an Olympic-sized indoor pool, as well as outdoor thermal pools and a variety of spa services. These can be arranged through the concierge, who can also assist with restaurant reservations, tour bookings, and other requests. The hotel does not have a restaurant or dining room, but a pre-ordered breakfast can be provided on request for an extra fee, and a luxurious in-room a la carte dinner can be arranged with a personal chef. Other services which can be reserved in-room include manicure and pedicure services, hairdressing, and massages.
