La Marquise Luxury Hotel Resort

Guests love this beautiful resort for the elegant design inside and out, and array of high-end features. On approaching the hotel, guests pass hedges swirling across the grass and stone-packed iron cages decorating the lawns. At the top of the driveway, the carport passes around a waterfall and a pair of white lions flank the entryway. Throughout the complex, sprawling pools and waterfalls are a predominate feature of the landscape, while open grassy areas are dotted with trees and flowerbeds. An adult-only section offers blocks of rooms, pools, and a bar where guests over 16 can relax without the rowdiness children can bring to a vacation. 

Inside, common areas are similarly attractively decorated. The lobby is a large, grand space, using neutral colors and polished design features to create a warm, sophisticated environment. Chandeliers are in the heart of enormous flowers, spreading their petals across the ceiling, while stylish sofas and chairs offer comfortable seating. In the main restaurant, giant paintings of garden scenes adorn walls, while chandeliers, crystal waves hanging from inlayed sections, and a painted cupola decorate the ceiling. Quality offerings in restaurants alongside plenty of amenities, make this an appealing hotel for couples and families alike. 

This hotel is near the northeastern coast of the Greek island of Rhodes, just across the street from the beach. There’s not much to do in the immediate vicinity, but there are a few shops and a restaurant within an eight-minute walk of the hotel. It is a 15-minute walk -- or a three-minute drive -- to a large water park. It is also a three-minute drive to Kallithea Springs for its gorgeous views and reputedly therapeutic hot springs. A 13-minute drive will bring guests to a full, 18-hole golf course, and a 15-minute drive to the city of Rhodes leads to historic sites and museums, plus lots of shops and restaurants. There’s a bus stop with service into the city within a minute’s walk of the hotel driveway. Rhodes International Airport is a 25-minute drive from the hotel, and the port is 15 minutes away. 

Standard rooms are lovely and comfortable, with a minimalist design in neutral tones. Ivory walls and tile floors are enhanced with shades of brown. A papered accent wall, decorative headboard, and (sometimes) a pretty print on the bedspread dress up the space. Beds are doubles or two twins, and there’s a sitting area with a sleeper sofa. Rooms include a 32-inch flat-screen TV, mini-fridge (or minibar on request), safe, and a kettle with free coffee and tea. Bathrooms are spacious and clean with a shower/tub combo and separate bidet. A hairdryer, robe, and slippers are provided, plus free soap, shower gel, lotion, and shampoo. 

Other room options include separate living rooms with sofa beds, second bathrooms, and private pools. Upgrades include extras like larger TVs, king-size beds, separate tubs and showers, and a fruit basket with water and wine. Some of the higher-tier rooms come with luxe services like a private check-in area, free airport transfers, turn-down service, and free gifts. Couples may want to book a room in the adult-only section for a more quiet atmosphere.

A solid list of quality features makes this hotel a good choice for those with a taste for indulgence. One of the highlights here is the layout of the pools. The main pool is enormous, but it winds between and around buildings in a way that creates a feeling of many smaller pools. Other pools are central to clusters of rooms, and a rooftop pool offers gorgeous views of the area. Near the top of the complex, two of the pools and the adjacent bar are allocated as adult-only, making for a peaceful area to relax. Guests who prefer sand and waves can use the underground passage or free shuttle to the beach where there are free cushioned sunbeds and straw umbrellas. It is quite rocky at the water’s edge, but there’s plenty of golden sand to enjoy.

Four restaurants, plus bars with snacks and light meals, offer guests sufficient choices for their half-board or all-inclusive dining. The main restaurant serves buffet-style meals, including a sumptuous free breakfast. A la carte eateries include Asian cuisine, a rooftop restaurant with stunning views, and a grill restaurant in the pool bar. Guests appreciate the delicious options with a good amount of variety throughout the week. Note, however, that the beach bar is not considered part of the all-inclusive dining.

The spa is a relaxing spot with several treatment rooms for massages, therapies, and beauty treatments, plus an indoor and outdoor pool, sauna, hammam, and steam room. The fitness room is a spacious area with modern cardio and weight-training equipment. The mini-club includes a cute playground and a large, partially shaded wading pool with a zero-edge entry for small children. The game room inside the teenagers’ club is a simple space with air hockey, table tennis, billiards, and a few coin-operated games. Beach volleyball, tennis, basketball, and a mini-golf course offer a few options for daytime fun, and live music at some of the bars offers evening entertainment as well. Wi-Fi is free throughout the hotel.
