Sentido Port Royal Villas & Spa

The Sentido Port Royal Villas is packed with luxurious details. The sleek industrial exterior has a revolving door that leads into a lobby that is dripping in style -- gold chandeliers, white tufted leather sofas, glass tables, and a white fountain. The pools were also built with a careful attention to design: the indoor circular pool has a beautiful glass-rounded ceiling, marble pillars, and fountains; there are also two chic S-shaped lagoon pools on either side of a lazy rock river. A charming restaurant and bar, designed like a rock cave, is on the shore of the river. The main outdoor pool -- furnished with brown tables, chairs, and lounge beds -- is bordered by a towel kiosk, manicured gardens, lawns, and a wooden pathway that leads to an exclusive beach. Couples on vacation are especially drawn to the property.

The hotel is located in Kolympia, on the eastern side of Rhodes island, where there are two bays that create a private seaside atmosphere. A wooden walkway leads to a beach cove with shingle shores, wooden changing rooms, and showers. The airport is 38 minutes away by car. The city of Rhodes -- with the Grand Master of Knights Palace and the Ancient Olympic Stadium -- is a 34-minute car ride. A bus outside the hotel also goes to Rhodes. Lindos, which is popular for its nightlife and shopping, and 33 minutes away by car. The Afandou Golf Club is a 17-minute car ride.

Chic contemporary furniture fills all of the bungalows; categories include Standard, Seafront, and Suites. Bungalows feature stone accent walls, and vibrant pops of color, such as yellow bed throws. All have a bright, airy feel. Even the Standard Bungalows have sitting areas, and they start at 30 square meters (322 square feet) of space. Amenities include flat-screen TVs, Wi-Fi for a fee, safes, bathrobes and slippers, mini-fridges, and terraces or balconies with sea views (in some). Bathrooms have whirlpool bathtubs with hand-held showerheads and high-end toiletries. Suites offer gift baskets, public relations services, twice-daily maid service, whirlpool tubs, private pools, and CD/DVD players. Presidential Suites have free 24-hour room service, DVDs/CDs, water bottles refilled daily, and (for extra fees) personal chefs and butlers, barbecues, laptops, and printers/fax machines. Rooms by the neighboring hotel can get noisy from the live entertainment.

The hotel offers three restaurants. The Royal Blue restaurant has a Greek food buffet, floor-to-ceiling windows, white seating, and a dark wood terrace. The poolside restaurant is similarly decorated with a terrace, and serves Asian and Latin cuisine. The gourmet restaurant -- near a poolside stage -- serves a la carte international cuisine and has two levels with wooden planked floors, peaked ceilings, and sleek white seating. The lobby bar, serving drinks and Mediterranean snacks, is surrounded by stylish leather barstools. The lagoon bar is set into a man-made cave by the lazy river. Rates that include breakfast, half board, and full board are available. The spa is a romantic setting with dark wood walls, candlelight, treatment rooms, a Vichy shower, a sauna/steam room, and a solarium with curved, cushioned lounge chairs.
