Bottom Line

My Way Boutique Hotel is an upper-middle-range beachfront property with just seven guest rooms. This small and stylish boutique has a personal vibe and is a favorite with couples, though the serenity can get broken up during peak season parties from the campsite next door. The cabana-style rooms are basic, but clean and contemporary, with several sporting outdoor whirlpools or showers. Room features like 24-hour electricity, Bluetooth speakers, and free minibar snacks are well-regarded, while the sparse decor, concrete, and wood resonate as rustic. Expect air-conditioning, a free continental breakfast with hot upgrades, a small bar with beach service, and free Wi-Fi, parking, and limited water sports. For a comparable option that adds a small pool, check rates at Hotel Cabanas Tulum down the beach.

My Way Boutique Hotel

Scene

Small beachfront boutique with cabana-style rooms

My Way Boutique Hotel isn’t shy about sharing where it got its name. As soon as guests enter the air-conditioned reception area, they are face-to-face with a glass decal of "My Way" singer Frank Sinatra. Beyond these glass walls, the hotel takes a much more rustic look, utilizing lots of open-air spaces, wood boards, rusting metal, and simple design murals. Sandy paths with raw wood planks, rustling trees, and leafy mangroves keep it feeling natural. The hotel is small, with staff and guests often on a first-name basis, and its several repeat guests tend to celebrate it as a hidden gem. During high season when the next-door campsite is open, it’s likely to be noisy at nights (though guests are often welcome to head over and join the party), so folks in search of a quiet getaway may want to wait until the off-season. The spacious rooms, 24-hour electricity, personal vibe, and sandy beach are favorites among guests.

Location

Central beach setting in the hotel zone

My Way Boutique is centrally located in Tulum’s hotel zone. The small boutique is located on the beachfront side of the road and within easy walking or biking distance to several of the area’s most popular eateries, shops, and wellness practices. It’s also right next to a campsite that’s open (and usually partying) from the end of the December through approximately mid-April. It's about a 10-minute bike ride to the main street, which leads to Tulum pueblo, and just under a 15-minute bike ride to the entrance of Sian Ka'an. The Tulum ruins are either a 20-minute bike ride or 17-minute drive up the beach. Cancun International Airport is an hour-and-40-minute drive north.

Rooms

Simple, contemporary rooms, several with outdoor tubs or whirlpools

All seven guest rooms here have their own feel and perks, with pricing dependent on the size and location. They have simple decor with dark-wood furniture and floors, white fabrics, and bright cushions on the patio furniture. Colorful woven coasters, white-brick accent walls, and white wire basket chairs add character. Coffeemakers, AC, and free bottled water are expected amenities, while 24-hour electricity, free drinks and snacks in the minibars, and portable Bluetooth speakers are quality touches for a hotel in this category. As in nearly all of the beachfront hotels, the water here is treated, so it’s recommended to use the provided water bottles and refills throughout your stay.

The Horizon Suite is the hotel’s only beachfront guest room and is one of two guest rooms that have a rooftop cool-water whirlpool. The second is the ocean-view Sunrise Master Suite, an individual cabana unit with an outdoor deck surrounded by mangroves. The Caribbean Suite’s highest-level terrace has the best views and an outdoor tub, while the Corazon Suite sports garden views plus an outdoor shower and tub. The Imperial Master Suite has a small kitchen area and room for an extra bed, while the Queen Master suite has a large tub inside the bedroom.

Features

Free continental breakfast, drink service on the beach, and free water sports

My Way Boutique is a small property with limited on-site features, leaving some guests to comment on the overall value of the hotel. In 2016, a stylish though rustic restaurant and bar area was added, giving guests a place to grab a bite off the beach. The menu focuses on international dishes like pasta, salads, and steak, as well as popular Mexican foods for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Food can be served at the metal tables in the open-air restaurant, in rooms, or out on the beach. Free continental breakfast options include espresso drinks, homemade bread, granola, and yogurt; hot breakfast upgrades are available.

The small palapa shack bar houses a handful of imported liquor brands and slings drinks from the bar or via service out on the beach. All beaches in Tulum are technically public, though the hotel does provide priority seating on its thick-cushioned sunbeds and beanbag seats for guests. Faint music from the bar, thatched roofs, mangroves, and crashing waves keep the atmosphere natural and relaxed.

Guests also have access to free kayaks and boogie boards, a lending library, and free (spotty) Wi-Fi. Free parking is available out front, but spots are limited and on a first-come, first-served basis.
