Scene
Boutique ambience in a 19th-century office building
The Hotel Dharma occupies two floors of a 19th-century office building smack in the center of Rome. There's not much in the way of public spaces here aside from a small reception area with a handful of black leather armchairs, a flat-screen TV, a table displaying tourist brochures, and a kettle for making tea. The hallways are light gray, offset by colorful abstract paintings in bold primary colors. The hotel's Cotto Restaurant is next door, serving contemporary Italian cuisine in a relaxed atmosphere. Many of the guests at this property are international travelers, mainly couples, though little ones are welcome.
Location
Cental location next to the Piazza Repubblica and the Opera House
The Hotel Dharma is located in the historic center of Rome, right next to the Piazza della Repubblica and the Basilica of Santa Maria degli Angeli, the latter of which was designed by Michaelangelo. Rome's famous Via Nazionale -- known for its shops and restaurants -- is a short walk away. The Repubblica metro station is a two-minute walk from the hotel, and the Termini railway station is about a six-minute walk. Leonardo Da Vinci-Fiumicino International Airport is about a 45-minute drive from the hotel, or a 30-minute trip by train from the Termini train station. Note that there isn't any parking at the hotel. - Two-minute walk to the Piazza della Repubblica
Rooms
Bright, modern rooms and a range of suites on two floors
The Dharma has 17 rooms, which range from Doubles and Triples to spacious, opulent Suites -- some with hot tubs, Turkish baths, and balconies. Rooms have hardwood or marble floors and modern decor in pink-burgundy hues, or bold black and white. All come with free Wi-Fi, wall-mounted 32-inch flat-screen TVs with lots of cable channels, minibars, and coffeemakers. The mosaic-tile bathrooms come with rain showerheads, bidets, wall-mounted hairdryers, slippers, and luxury toiletries. The most affordable rooms are on the smaller side. Tiny balconies add more charm than function to some of the rooms.
Features
Room service, free breakfast, and Wi-Fi
There isn't a restaurant at Hotel Dharma but guests get free breakfast, which includes eggs, cereal, fruit, and pastries, next door at Cotto Restaurant. The tiny size of the property means there isn't much space for features though there is a cozy lobby with free tea. Room service is available and Wi-Fi is free throughout the day.
