Bottom Line

The upper-middle-range Hotel Ponte Sisto’s location, smack in the heart of historic Rome, is just one reason to book a stay. The 103 rooms
are comfortable and spacious by Roman standards, though TVs are small and guests can't control the room temperature. A beautiful rooftop terrace
and elegant interior courtyard are both tranquil and atmospheric. This hotel is ideal
for couples, families, and -- with meeting rooms and a work station -- a good choice
for business travelers wanting a departure from corporate uniformity. Breakfast, including delectable pastries, is free, along with Wi-Fi. One major downside is the lack of a restaurant.

Scene

Colorful and classy with lots of greenery

Resembling a fairy tale version of an
ancient city, the Ponte Sisto is a series of six-story mauve buildings dating
back to the Renaissance, with brick accents and blue-shuttered windows. The
lobby is small but elegant, with marble floors, wood trim, and an airy glass-enclosed vestibule. The most beautiful
feature of the hotel is the courtyard garden, where palm trees tower over
candle-lit tables, and fresh potted plants and flowers surround the area. The
hotel also has a rooftop patio with lemon trees, lounge chairs, and views of the
Palazzo Spada gardens below and St. Peter’s Cathedral in the distance.
Sunbathers and prosecco-sippers are abundant here in the summertime. The indoor
lounge – Bar Nerone – is cozy and classy with a piano as its centerpiece, and
live performances weekly. For conferences and events, there are also three
meeting rooms equipped with presentation and audiovisual capabilities.

Location

Steps away from Tiber River and historic hot spots

The hotel is surrounded by boutiques, cafes, and churches, with history
around every corner. The Tiber River runs right next to the property, and the bohemian Trastevere district is just 15-minutes' walk across the water. Campo
de' Fiori and Piazza Navona are within 10-minutes' walk; and within 20- minutes' walk are St. Peter’s Cathedral, the Roman Forum, and the Spanish Steps. Leonardo da Vinci International Airport is about 35
minutes away by car, and just over one hour by train and bus.

Rooms

Clean and spacious with simple wood furnishings and Sistine Chapel prints

There are 103 rooms at Ponte Sisto, and all are quite spacious, especially by Roman
standards. Sleek wood furnishings, headboards with built-in lights, blue and gold textiles, and framed prints of of the Sistine Chapel combine for a subtly cozy but basically forgettable look. The bathrooms have rust-colored Italian
marble tiles, and shower/tub combos. Some Classic Rooms look out upon the adjacent building, but some suites and Superior Rooms have
private patios with dining tables and umbrellas. All rooms have slippers, free Wi-Fi access, and flat-screen TVs.
There are no coffee- and tea-making facilities in rooms.

Features

Free breakfast buffet and Wi-Fi, meeting rooms, and lovely courtyard and terrace

Bar Nerone is a classic wooden bar with a lounge area and
piano, where weekly live performances are held. The restaurant – Il Gladiatore – can
be reserved for group catering and events. A large assortment of fresh pastries
and fruit are served in the daily breakfast buffet, included in room rates, and
guests have free Wi-Fi access in rooms. The Ponte Sisto also has three meeting
rooms equipped for conventions, conferences, and presentations. There are a
spacious courtyard garden and rooftop terrace for lounging and sipping drinks
in warm weather. The reception staff can arrange airport transfers and tours
upon request.
