The Navona Palace Luxury Inn is a modern boutique hotel in a historic 17th-century palazzo set between Piazza del Fico and Piazza Navona. It's a 10-minute walk to the Pantheon. While there aren't many features, the three-and-a-half-pearl hotel has 46 guest rooms that are contemporary and get plenty of natural light. Unfortunately, they might also pick up some noise from the popular bar located at street level. Some rooms have gorgeous Roman rooftop views. As an alternative, Navona Theatre Hotel offers a free hot breakfast and more stylish rooms for cheaper rates.
Scene
A mix of old and new in a lively area of central Rome
Navona Palace is set in a 17th-century palazzo near Piazza del Fico. The small square, a short stroll from Piazza Navona, was named after the fig tree originally found there. Today, old men gather to play chess in the shade of a newer fig planted around the corner from the hotel’s entrance. By night, the same square transforms into a popular nightlife stop with young Romans sometimes drinking outside into the early hours of the morning. The mix of traditional and lively modern Italian life is well reflected in the chicly updated hotel. The tiny lobby area features white antique-style sculptures on pedestals and black leather benches. The lively setting and fashionable design will appeal to young (and young at heart) tourists planning to explore Rome’s sights and nightlife on foot.
Location
Steps from Piazza Navona, close to bars, restaurants and shops
Two minutes from Piazza Navona, Navona Palace is in the heart of Rome’s historic center. The busy nearby square is filled with street performers and artists who set up their wares around Bernini’s famous Fountain of the Four Rivers. Other cobblestone lanes leading away from the hotel have artisan shops and boutiques, as well as numerous restaurants with outdoor seating. Navona Palace also shares a wall with a popular local bar where the drinks and conversation flow late into the night. Right in the center of the most popular part of the city, the hotel is well placed for exploring Campo de’ Fiori. The Pantheon is a 10-minute walk; Trevi Fountain is within 16 minutes on foot; and the Vatican is within 25 minutes. While there is no metro nearby, major bus stops and taxi stands are about a five-minute walk from the front door. Leonardo da Vinci Fiumicino airport is around a 40-minute drive away.
Rooms
Lovely and bright rooms with AC, coffeemakers, and some Rome views
Rooms at Navona Palace have a simple, modern design. Bold purple touches break up the otherwise cool, white palette. Some rooms offer a peek at original architectural details such as the beautiful, high wooden ceilings in the Attic Suite. Suites have additional seating, often in the form of a pull-out couch that doubles as sleeping space for larger groups. All units have coffeemakers and minibars, and some suites have well-stocked kitchenettes. Electronic safes, flat-screen TVs, free spotty Wi-Fi, and air-conditioning are also standard. Bathrooms are especially nice, with shower/tub combos and rainfall showerheads. Bidets, magnifying mirrors, toiletries, and hairdryers are supplied. Large windows allow for plenty of natural light, and for the best view, rooms and suites on the upper floors have balconies which look out over the rooftops of central Rome toward Santa Maria della Pace Church. While all rooms have insulated windows, those which face Bar della Pace may experience noise from revelers, particularly on weekend nights. Light sleepers might consider requesting a room on the other side of the hotel.
