Best Business Hotels in Rome

The St. Regis Rome is a grand five-pearl hotel of the Belle Epoque era, with modern amenities. Most guests rave about the helpful concierge and butler service, and the property features include an Asian-themed spa, a fine dining restaurant offering wine cellar tastings, and formal afternoon tea service. Elegant rooms blend several historic decor styles and are adorned with lovely antiques. The hotel is within walking distance of Termini Station, the Trevi Fountain, and the Spanish Steps. There are also several opulent conference and event rooms.

Part of Marriott's upscale Boscolo hotel family, the Exedra is right on the Piazza della Repubblica near Termini Station. It's housed in a former 19th-century palace and was the first 5-star hotel to be established in Rome. The 238 rooms have elegant neoclassical style in shades of beige and cream; guests can also choose to stay in the Clementino, which was the papal granary in the 17th century. The dramatic entrance, grand lobby, and hallways lined with Roman busts set a formal tone; the hotel requests a business casual dress code in the public and dining areas. There are several dining options, and the seasonal city-view infinity pool is a highlight.

This Beaux Arts property has occupied prime space on the celebrated Via Veneto since 1906, and was made famous by Federico Fellini’s 1960 movie “La Dolce Vita.” The elegant hotel, rebranded by Westin several years ago, has hosted celebrities and statesmen, and also has the distinction of having the largest suite in Europe, the nearly 12,000-square-foot Villa La Cupola. Some guests say the property is beginning to show its age, but that it offers good value for a five-pearl hotel. 

Another large hotel in the NH chain, the mid-range Vittorio Veneto meets the company’s benchmark of contemporary elegance with new, clean and comfortable furniture and facilities, and a restaurant and bar. Located in the high-end Via Veneto area within walking distance (but be ready to hoof it uphill to get back to the hotel) to the Spanish Steps and other attractions, the location is ideal and prices are decent, although the place does not look or feel Italian and is designed largely for business travelers.

The Parco Dei Principi Grand Hotel & Spa is located in the Parioli district near the beautiful Villa Borghese park (but far from most tourist sights). The grand, opulent lobby has plush seating, chandeliers, and lovely artwork. Rooms are traditional in style with crisp white bedding and modern amenities. Marble bathrooms are finished with crown molding and jetted shower/tub combos. Business travelers will likely appreciate the 18 meeting rooms, business center, spacious fitness center, classy on-site restaurant and bar, outdoor courtyard garden with big heated pool, and Prince Spa, complete with indoor pool and steam room.

Clean, contemporary (if generic) rooms with flat-screen TVs and iPod docks; free Wi-Fi throughout the hotel; a large business center; and a free shuttle to the city center make the upper-middle-range H10 Roma Citta a great pick for the business traveler. Additional perks include a small fitness center, a nice salon with a few massage rooms, and a seasonal outdoor pool.

The 197-room Una Hotel is an upscale option near Termini station, a somewhat gritty area that is nonetheless convenient for business travelers. The rooms are clean and modern, with wooden accents, white and beige decor, and flat-screen TVs. Large slate bathrooms are the highlight, and come with bidets and rainfall showerheads. There is an on-site restaurant and bar, but the hotel offers little else in the way of amenities for a hotel its size -- there is no fitness center or spa. But it does offer a free breakfast, as well as five meeting rooms and a small business center.

With eight meeting rooms and having an all-around office feel to it, the two-and-a-half pearl Giustiniano is geared toward business travelers. It's large and lacks a specific Italian character, but it's still a good option for tourists given its walker-friendly proximity to the Vatican and other historic sights. Because of its size, guests can remain more anonymous here than at one of the city’s many smaller, more intimate hotels.

Comfortable, efficient, and thoroughly American, the Crowne Plaza Rome St. Peter's is probably a better option for business travelers than for tourists seeking a taste of local culture. The 308-room hotel was tastefully updated a few years ago and features two large restaurants, multiple meeting rooms, a modern fitness center, and a spa that includes a heated indoor pool -- a potential godsend for families when the outdoor facility is closed. Unfortunately, guests have been surprised to learn that this pool is off limits to children under 16. The hotel touts the benefits of its shuttle to and from the city center, but guests complain that the service can be inconvenient and unpredictable.

This 216-room upscale chain hotel in a 19th-century building is just a short walk from the Termini train station, which offers public transport throughout the city, but a long walk from most of the popular tourist sights. The rooms are modern, with free Wi-Fi and flat-screen TVs, though lower-level rooms often experience street noise. The hotel's best features are arguably the spacious fitness center and small spa with a sauna, hammam, and massage rooms; guest get free access to the facilities. For business travelers, there's a conference room equipped to host corporate events for up to 300 guests.

With rooms of all levels, the top of which feature views of St. Peter’s Dome or TVs in the bathrooms, this 287-room hotel is one of the nicest in the area -- even if it doesn't quite live up to its four-star rating.  Within a few minutes’ walk of the main train station and easy access of Rome’s many monuments and attractions, the Metropole also offers a nice restaurant, spacious lounge area, and fitness room -- as well as ample meeting space. For tourists and business travelers seeking a hotel in central Rome, the Metropole is a solid choice.

An upscale chain property in the elegant Parioli neighborhood, the Hilton Garden Inn Rome Claridge is a 12-minute walk to the Borghese Gardens with its zoo, and a 20-minute drive to major tourist attractions in central Rome. Its 93 sleek, modern rooms, which were renovated in 2012 along with the rest of the hotel, come with mini-fridges, 32-inch LCD TVs, and ergonomic desk chairs by Herman Miller. The Great American Grill, the on-site restaurant, serves breakfast daily (not included in standard rates), and guests can microwave snacks in the Pavilion Pantry and gather for drinks in the Pavilion Lounge. The hotel also has a fitness center, a sauna, and Turkish bath, plus a business center.
