Bottom Line

The nine-room SuiteDreams Hotel may have a cheesy pun built into the name, but it's actually a solid mid-range option within walking distance of Termini Statin and Trevi Fountain. The hotel feels updated thanks to use of modern design trends, and free extras such as Wi-Fi and breakfast add value. Rooms are decently sized and clean (if a tad bland), with most sporting twin beds and stone shower stalls. It's a good price for the location, but it's worth comparing rates with the Hotel Fontana, which is a bit closer to the tourist sights.

Scene

A tiny modern hotel in a building shared with other hotels

The SuiteDreams Hotel, a tiny property located in a building shared with other hotels, may initially be hard to find, and it is necessary to buzz in to enter. Guests can take the building's old-fashioned elevator with wrought iron or marble staircase to the front door, and once inside, the design clean, simple, and modern, with a few fun touches. Walls in the hallways are adorned with photographs and works by contemporary artists, and the breakfast room is decorated with decoupage of old newspapers and clear plastic chairs. The hotel is separated into different sections with different color and celebrity themes for each area. The decor inside the rooms is is fairly bland, however.

Location

On a quiet street near Termini Station, within walking distance of a few tourist sights

The SuiteDreams Hotel has a convenient location near Termini Station, a short walk from Piazza della Repubblica and Basilica della Santa Maria (designed by Michelangelo). Other popular tourist attractions, including the Opera House and Santa Maria Maggiore, are within walking distance. It's a 16-minute walk to the Trevi Fountain. The neighborhood is full trattorias, cafes, and shops.

Rooms

Decently spacious, modern rooms in neutral colors

The rooms at SuiteDreams Hotel are typically quiet (thanks to the hotel's location facing a quieter street), clean, and modern. Most sport twin beds, contemporary furniture, and neutral color schemes, though a few have accents in bright colors (such as purple). They have wood floors and, notably, down duvets and pillows (not a given at mid-range hotels in Rome). A few sport small balconies, a rarity in this price range. Bathrooms are clean, and have stone shower stalls and modern fixtures.

Features

A tiny boutique with a good breakfast, but little else

The hotel offers free Wi-Fi (some report the quality varies depending on the room) and a quality breakfast buffet that's included in most rates. The breakfast is served in a funky, modern breakfast room and features fresh pastries, meats, and cheeses. Guests are entitled to free bottled water from their minibars, and there are DVDs and books available on loan.
