Courtyard San Diego Airport/Liberty Station

An attractive, open lobby awaits arriving guests with white and beige marble tile leading to a dark wood front desk illuminated by a modern circular chandelier. Several comfortable seating areas with rich blue upholstered chairs and wood tables are adjacent, as is the lounge area with a black granite, curved bar and clusters of blue and black chairs around wood tables. Blue, orange, and brown patterned carpet adds color, as does the bright, impressionist-style art mounted on walls throughout the lobby. Nearby are the breakfast buffet area and deli with sandwiches and more seating. Just outside the deli is a lovely terrace with umbrella tables overlooking the park’s manicured lawns, trails, and waterfront benches. A gas fire pit with lounge-style seating also faces the park. All in all, it’s a lovely, relaxed tropical setting that feels worlds away from the busy airport nearby. 

The Courtyard enjoys an enviable waterfront location that’s only a four-minute shuttle ride from the airport, yet it abuts a 46-acre park with scenic walk and bike trails along a boat channel that runs into San Diego Bay. It’s part of the mixed-use Liberty Station complex that was once a naval training center but now has offices, hotels, restaurants and retail shops. Several restaurants are a brief two- to three-minute walk, while others are a half-mile away, about a 10-minute walk. Mission Beach, San Diego Convention Center, Balboa Park, and downtown Gaslamp District are all within a 10- to 15-minute drive, depending on traffic.  

Rooms are offered in various combinations and sizes including Kings with pull-out sofa beds (300 square feet), Two Queens (350 square feet), and two-room King Suites with sofa beds (500 square feet). Select premium rooms include microwaves, but most rooms don’t. Rooms with water/park views and small balconies generally cost more than rooms with parking lot views and no balcony. All rooms are clean and feature rich, warm decor highlighted by reddish-brown wood headboards and matching furniture, red-and gold-patterned accent walls, and solid gold and red textiles and wallpaper elsewhere. Spacious layouts give enough room for couches and coffee tables, dresser/work desk combos, and ergonomic office chairs. Flat-screen TVs and one-cup coffeemakers are standard, as are iHome docking station, two-line speakerphone with voice mail, desk media plug-in. Bathrooms are similarly spacious, though the shower curtains and granite vanities bring down the elegance a touch. But large wall mirrors, toiletries, and shower/tub combos provide all the necessities. The Two-Room Suite has the vanity outside the bathroom as well as a sink, dishwasher, and separate living room.

Free parking is offered, and a free airport shuttle runs from early morning to late evening. A hot breakfast buffet with a carving station is available daily but not included in standard room rates. An on-site deli offers Starbucks coffee, breakfast items and sandwiches, and dinner entrees are served in the restaurant and lounge. A market-style convenience store has an ATM, drinks, and microwaveable frozen entrees. Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the hotel. The front desk has a safe deposit box. Self-service laundry facilities are on-site, and dry cleaning and laundry services are also available. The Courtyard has 4,590 square feet of meeting space. The fitness center has several cardio machines and free weights, and the lobby's business center has two computer stations and a printer. An outdoor pool and whirlpool overlook the adjacent park, and bike rentals help guests to explore the area. Stand-up paddle boards also can be rented just outside the hotel.
