Homewood Suites by Hilton San Diego Airport – Liberty Station

Homewood Suites by Hilton San Diego Airport is composed of two beige-stucco buildings with a courtyard in the middle, and with paved walkways wrapping around the property. The courtyard is accented with well-maintained flowers, trees, and greenery, and there's seating for guests as well as two grills for outdoor barbecues. Another area has an outdoor fireplace and cushy outdoor lounge chairs. Two rooftop terraces are furnished with simple tables and chairs, and they provide nice views of the waterfront. A ship replica adds a nautical touch. Inside, the small lobby has a couple of comfortable seating areas furnished with teal sofas and bright yellow ottomans, and the Lodge just off the lobby is where breakfast and the evening dinner and drinks are served. A convenience store behind the check-in desk is open 24/7. The hotel is popular with families, as well as business travelers seeking practical, convenient accommodations near the waterfront, and who don't mind the hotel's somewhat lackluster aesthetic. Airplane noise can be heard outside, but not so much in the rooms. 

Located just over a five-minute drive from the San Diego Airport, this all-suite hotel is situated on the waterfront in Liberty Station with a walkway just outside. All the shops and restaurants at Liberty Station are just a 10-minute walk away. The hotel is also centrally located for exploring San Diego, a 15- to 20-minute drive from the San Diego Zoo, SeaWorld, Seaport Village, Balboa Park, and the San Diego Cruise Ship Terminal. Los Angeles International Airport is about two hours away without traffic, and John Wayne Airport Orange County is an hour-and-a-half away by car. The area around the hotel is pleasant, with the walkway, grass and trees, a playground, and beautiful views of the waterfront. Lots of recreation options are nearby as well, including golf, the beach, bike rentals, fishing, walking, and hiking. A naval training area is on the other side of the large parking lot. 

All rooms are suites, either studios or units with one or two bedrooms. Each has a pullout sofa, ceiling fan, and fully equipped kitchen with granite countertops, a full-size refrigerator, stainless-steel sink, microwave, two-burner cooktop, coffeemaker, toaster, dishwasher, and cooking and eating essentials. Each one-bedroom suite has a king-size bed, and each two-bedroom has a king and a queen. All suites have separate sitting areas with flat-screen TVs, though studios have open floor plans in which there's no separation between bedroom and living space. Decor is basic, with wood furnishings and earth-tone color schemes, the only accents being framed beach photography and patterned throw pillows on the couches. Bathrooms are also basic, but they are clean and have granite countertops, Neutrogena bath products, and Waterpik showerheads in the shower/tub combos. In-room Wi-Fi is free. 

Guests can start their day with the free hot breakfast that's served each day in the Lodge off the lobby. In the evening, free dinner and drinks are served there too. On-site recreation includes the outdoor pool, outdoor basketball court, and a small fitness center in each building. The rectangular pool is positioned across from the waterfront and is nicely sized for short laps. For those who prefer to relax at the pool, there are cushioned lounge chairs, umbrellas, and a hot tub. For business meetings or social events, the 812-square-foot Roosevelt Room can accommodate up to 100 people, and it has windows for natural light and opens onto the terrace. The business center offers computers and a printer for guests to use. A spacious on-site laundry room has washers and dryers, along with a comfortable chair and a flat-screen TV. Two furnished rooftop terraces provide nice spots for enjoying the outdoors.
