Best Hotel Bars in San Diego

The San Diego Marriott might not be the most party-oriented hotel despite its location in hip Gaslamp Quarter, but it sure has a trendy rooftop bar, the Altitude Sky Lounge. Perched above it all, it has become a hotspot in the last few years due to its outdoor seating with fire pits and terrific views of Petco Park. Plus, there is no cover (something quite unusual in San Diego), and there's a great happy hour with $5 drinks.

The Hard Rock's trendy rooftop bar Float is one of San Diego's party hotspots and a true celebrity-magnet, with wild weekend parties and DJs until 2 a.m. Add good views, lounge couches, fire pits and expensive drinks and you've got one of the top hotel bars in town. For the early birds, there's a popular happy hour starting at 4:20 p.m. daily at Maryjane's, one of the hotel's restaurants.

The stylish W San Diego is as hip as you'd expect a W to be. However, the main draw of this scene-y property is its artificial beach lounge, which features sand, fire pits, lounge chairs, heaters, cabanas for rent, a full bar with great views and a popular happy hour. It's open Monday through Thursday 4 p.m. to 12 a.m., and Friday through Sunday 12 p.m. to 1:30 a.m.

The classy Top of the Hyatt, perched on the 40th floor of the hotel, offers some of the most spectacular views of the Bay and of Coronado Island. The venue is known for its attentive service and great drink menu, including champagne, cocktails, wines and beers. Drinks are not cheap and it's defenitely not the place for hard partiers, but it is the perfect spot to take a date, with low lights and jazz music.
