- Heated outdoor pool and hot tub are well-maintained
- Large event space for meetings
- Small modern fitness center has various cardio machines
- Pet-friendly property offers Sheraton Sweet Sleeper dog beds (for a fee)

- Some bathrooms are very small
Bottom Line
Sheraton Mission Valley's convenient location right off of I-8 is also its drawback. The property is equally close to downtown San Diego and Qualcomm Stadium and has easy access to Fashion Valley Mall, but you need a car to get anywhere and the freeway noise is constant. Guest rooms have all the expected upper-mid-range conveniences with the addition of trendy decor, and some units have private balconies (though there isn't much of a view from any of them). Rates here are cheaper than at nearby competitors like the DoubleTree by Hilton Mission Valley or Courtyard by Marriott, but fees can stack up.

Big-chain convenience off the interstate
This Sheraton's neighbors are a car dealership and fast food restaurants in an area that's not ideal for walking, despite the California sunshine. The building features a peach facade and a large, airy lobby with potted flora at its entrance. Inside, fresh fruit-infused water awaits guests beside a dark wood front desk surrounded by neutral tones and smatterings of art. There are two small lounge areas along the floor-to-ceiling windows; one features dark earth-toned couches and chairs, again flanked by plants, while the other integrates the brand's trademark Link@Sheraton business center.
Location
In Central Mission Valley with easy access to shopping and attractions
Near Highway 163 and the I-8 Freeway junction, Sheraton Mission Valley San Diego is conveniently located for travelers with cars. Fashion Valley Mall and the Hazard Center shopping and entertainment complex are just across the river to the north. Downtown San Diego and Balboa Park are a short drive south while some of the area’s other major tourist attractions -- like La Jolla, SeaWorld, and Mission Bay -- are short drives to the north and west. San Diego International Airport is a 15- to 20-minute drive southwest toward the bay.
Rooms
Rooms are spacious enough, with nice modern decor and large flat-screen TVs, but bathrooms in many are small.
A dark blue-and-brown decor with trendy additions like chevron-patterned carpets give the 260 rooms here a bit more style than might be expected in this category. Textured walls, dark wood furnishings, and Moroccan lattice on the curtains, as well as in-framed artwork, complete the vibe. Basics like coffeemakers and mini-fridges are provided as well as big flat-screen TVs and large desks that give added value to even standard rooms, but anything below the Deluxe tier is on the small side. Some units have private balconies, but they all come with freeway noise. Bathrooms are average in every way, with granite topped vanities and basic shower/tub combos.
Features
Outdoor pool, Cru Bistro and bar, and Sheraton Club lounge
An outdoor heated pool and hot tub provide some sanctuary, with hills and foliage-covered walls enclosing the sun deck from the surrounding urban vista. Adjacent patio seating is open most of the year for the hotel's Cru Bistro and bar, which serves breakfast standards (not included) and a seafood oriented dinner. Despite what the Sheraton's website says, there is no Starbucks here, although the lobby convenience store sells Starbucks coffee with snacks and prepackaged sandwiches. Sheraton Club members and upgraded guests can access the Club Lounge for a free continental breakfast and more Starbucks coffee. The hotel's business facilities include 12,000 square feet of flexible meeting space along with the expected equipment and event staff. The Link@Sheraton business center is open 24 hours, with computers and printing services in the lobby. Dog owners, paying the non-refundable pet fee, are each provided with a Sheraton Sweet Sleeper dog bed.
