Warwick San Francisco

Warwick San Francisco Hotel occupies an elegant seven-story corner building located on the corner of a busy city street. Constructed in the Beaux-Arts style, this 1913 building was the creation of architect Arthur Brown Jr., who also designed the city's Coit Tower and City Hall. The atmosphere throughout the hotel is stylish and elegant, with soft-gray tiled floors, Ionic columns, chandeliers, and windows decorated with intricate metal work in the lobby area. Both leisure travelers and business guests stay here drawn by the chic public spaces and the central location.

Located in the center of San Francisco, Warwick San Francisco Hotel is just a few minutes' walk away from Union Square. The area is busy, with many shops, malls, restaurants, and other hotels nearby. But traffic and parking are a challenge here, and the street noise is difficult to avoid.

Rooms at the Warwick tend to be tiny, not too surprising by San Francisco standards. Much like the rest of the hotel, the room decor is simple and elegant, decorated in soft tones of gray and beige, with gray carpeting, beige curtains, and navy-blue bed runners. The repurposed antique headboards and old-fashioned wardrobes are painted a cheery blue and white. Black-and-white framed photographs of turn-of-the-century San Francisco decorate the walls. All the guest rooms and suites feature air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs, mini-fridges, and coffeemakers. Bottled water and snacks are also provided for a fee, minibar style. The bathrooms have a luxurious feel, with marble-covered counter tops and tiling, and are equipped with shower/tub combos, back-lit mirrors, bathrobes, slippers, and toiletries. 

There are four different room categories and four types of suites on offer: The Deluxe Queen Rooms have two full-sized beds, and some feature window seats. The Suites have small living areas separated from the bedrooms with a pocket door. Past guests have complained of musty smells in some of the rooms, and signs of wear and tear in bathrooms. Also, street-facing rooms tend to experience a lot of street noise, which can be a nuisance for light sleepers. 

For an upscale hotel, the features on offer at Warwick San Francisco Hotel are limited. Breakfast is available (for an extra fee) at the on-site Aveline restaurant, which is also open for lunch and dinner serving new Californian cuisine; it provides room service during the day. Guests staying at the hotel are offered priority reservations at the restaurant and preferred seating, and are often presented with special offers. The hotel's atmospheric and intimate bar -- the European -- is located adjacent to the lobby area. Two on-site meeting rooms can accommodate up to 120 people in theater-style and 72 in classroom style. Other services available include access to an off-site fitness center, plus laundry and valet parking (both charged extra). There's also a fee for Wi-Fi, and the connection quality can be patchy.
