Bottom Line

Though the Baymont Inn and Suites Santa Fe is a 20-minute drive from most attractions in Santa Fe, it’s a decent pick for those seeking a budget stay and a location next to Santa Fe Place Mall and chain restaurants. Features are few, but it does offer an indoor pool and a hot breakfast of sausages, eggs, and waffles. The 55 rooms aren’t the most stylish (and maybe a tiny bit dated), but they do well in amenities with microwaves, mini-fridges, and coffeemakers. Santa Fe Sage Inn is a good alternative for those wanting to be just outside of downtown, as it offers a free shuttle to the Plaza and free breakfast.

Baymont by Wyndham Santa Fe

Scene

Chain property with a white adobe exterior and a generic interior

The Baymont Inn & Suites Santa Fe draws a mix of families and couples who prioritize inexpensive rooms over being right in the mix of all things going on in Santa Fe. The hotel has a striking white adobe exterior that's popular throughout the Southwest. Disappointingly, the Southwest style doesn’t make its way into the lobby. Rather, the space features a contemporary, but generic design, of orange armchairs set on tiled floors next to a gas fireplace. Large floral artwork can be found throughout. The breakfast room shares a space with the lobby and features black tables with blue chairs. While the decor is standard for a chain budget hotel, no elevator and complaints of cleanliness issues shows this property isn’t perfect.

Location

Twenty-minute drive from downtown Santa Fe but a seven-minute walk from a mall

Baymont Inn & Suites Santa Fe is about a 20-minute drive from downtown Santa Fe and its major attractions like the Georgia O’Keefe Museum and the Loretto Chapel. The hotel sits just off the 14 highway, making it easy to reach those popular destinations by car. There are some things to do in the immediate area like shop at the Santa Fe Place Mall (with stores like Victoria's Secret and Dillard's), just a seven-minute walk away, or grab a bite at one of the many dining options (most of them are Mexican restaurants) within a 10-minute walk. It takes 12 minutes by car to reach the Santa Fe Regional Airport.

Rooms

Contemporary rooms with flat-screen TVs, microwaves, and mini-fridges

The rooms at Baymont Inn & Suites Santa Fe make an attempt at Southwest-style, but the turquoise and yellow carpet clashes a bit with the orange statement walls. The blond laminate furniture is a bit bland as are white linens with navy accents, but overall, the rooms are well-maintained. Amenities are fully fleshed out with microwaves, mini-fridges, coffeemakers, flat-screen TVs, and free Wi-Fi. Suites have a bit of extra space and pullout couches, perfect for families or larger groups. The white bathrooms are generic in style and come with shower/tub combos, toiletries, and hairdryers. While the rooms don’t look visibly dirty, some guests have made cleanliness complaints. Most rooms overlook the parking lot.
