Inn of the Five Graces

Tucked away on a side street across from the Santa Fe Mission, the Inn of the Five Graces has a lush, exotic, and secluded feel. The inn attracts a well-heeled crowd, who mingle and sun themselves in the gardens and courtyards with songbirds, lush foliage, shady trees, flowers, and fountains. The inn's interiors are a testament to the discerning eye and impeccable taste of the designer couple Ira and Sylvia Seret, who scoured the globe from Afghanistan to Tibet for unique art and artifacts. Every room is beautiful and brightly colored, and even the business center and fitness center are superbly decorated. The inn's romantic feel makes it popular with couples for weddings, honeymoons, and anniversaries. Service is warm and gracious, and the service quality ethic is so strong that tipping is discouraged. 

Inn of the Five Graces is in the heart of Santa Fe in a historic neighborhood next to the Santa Fe Playhouse and across the Old Santa Fe Trail from the San Miguel Mission, the oldest church in the United States. The New Mexico State Capitol is a block and a half south, Loretto Chapel is a block and a half north, and Santa Fe Plaza is a five-minute walk north. The Cathedral Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi and Cathedral Park are a five-minute walk northeast, while Palace of the Governors and New Mexico Museum of Art are a seven-minute walk north of the hotel. The hotel is a three-minute drive or 10-minute walk east of Santa Fe Depot commuter rail station, and a 20-minute drive northeast of Santa Fe Municipal Airport.

The Inn of the Five Graces has 24 spacious and quiet rooms and suites in a variety of room types and configurations, with evocative room names like Birdsong, Firebird, Sandalwood, Jasmine, Jade, and Lavender. The exquisitely decorated rooms are positively filled with carefully selected Southwestern, Latin American, Asian, and Middle Eastern textiles, furnishings, art, and antiques, some close to 1,000 years old. Decorative and architectural elements range from hand-laid tile mosaics, carved headboards and cabinets, and cathedral ceilings, to Afghan dhurri rugs, Navajo rugs, Turkish kilim rugs, and Indian silk embroidery. Rooms are awash in rich jewel tones of red, purple, orange, royal blue, and emerald green. All rooms include authentic wood-burning kiva fireplaces with a supply of wood for the night. Rooms also include plush featherbeds with turndown service, free Wi-Fi, flat-screen TVs, coffeemakers, and daily stocked minibars with items like nuts, gourmet chocolates, and fresh salsa and tortilla chips (all items included in room rate). The huge bathrooms come with luxury bath products, deep soaking tubs, separate showers, and double sinks. Guests often take romantic candlelit baths. Some rooms have some combination of skylights, French doors, private balconies or patios, mountain or San Miguel Mission views, and kitchenettes. The special Luminaria House room has five fireplaces and a lapis ceiling with red chandelier.

Inn of the Five Graces has no swimming pool, hot tub, steam room, or sauna, but its full-service spa is excellent. Housed in an adobe room with stone fireplace, the spa has a Tibetan treatment room with Indian Ayurvedic therapies with oil infusions of flowers, herbs and rare plant extracts. The excellent fitness center has a wide range of cardio and weight equipment, flat-screen TVs with DirecTV, and personal training and yoga instruction available (fees may apply). The free made-to-order breakfast is gourmet quality, and includes fare like eggs with red or green chili, house-made granola, artisan bread, fruit, coffee, and more. Guests can take their breakfast in their room, in the dining room with kiva fireplace, or out in the courtyard in good weather. Guests can also enjoy free afternoon salsa and chips, margaritas, wine and cheese, and local delicacies in the lobby. Adjacent to the hotel is a restaurant serving inventive French cuisine with local ingredients and featuring a large global wine list. Room service is available.
