Sprawling modern complex lacking in character

Doesn't have the best views on the island
The Majestic Hotel is a bit of an anomaly among the numerous, cozy boutiques so abundant in Santorini. It's big, modern, and lacking a certain charm, but does provide a seriously extensive list of facilities -- three pools, two restaurants, and a spa. It's definitely more family-friendly than most too, and rooms are luxurious with impressive amenities. If it's more intimate you're after, however, try Anteliz Suites, for around the same price.
Scene
Contemporary complex with luxury finish
Set off a busy stretch of the main Fira-Pyrgos road overlooking the Aegean Sea, the Majestic Hotel is a large, modern hotel with wide walkways lined with shrubs and flowers connecting an extensive complex of buildings. The lobby is airy and bright, with smart, contemporary furnishings and polished marble and wooden parquet floors -- there's little in the way of interior design touches that alludes to the island itself, though the overall impression is one of upscale luxury. The hotel attracts business clientele for its conference facilities, families with kids, as well as wedding parties and other large-scale events.
Location
Set on the edge of the island's capital on Santorini's west coast
The hotel is situated on the edge of island's capital of Fira, right off the main road to Pyrgos on the west coast of Santorini. Getting to Santorini involves a 45-minute flight from Athens, and it's then about five miles from the airport. Ferries are also available from surrounding islands and the port is six miles away.
Rooms
Fresh, contemporary rooms with high-end amenities and private terraces
Rooms are smart, minimal, and contemporary, decorated in cool tones with modern furnishings and tiled floors. Wall-mounted, angle-poise lamps provide bedside lighting, and beds are dressed with high-end linen sheets. All rooms extend to private terraces or balconies with either volcano or sea views. In-room tech includes flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, and iPod docks, while bathrooms provide jetted tubs, robes, and luxury toiletries.
Features
Extensive facilities including three swimming pools and spa
The Majestic Hotel certainly has an impressive range of facilities, starting with three swimming pools -- the main one is large by any standards, all have hot tubs, and one is heated. There are two restaurants on-site, one providing an extensive buffet breakfast in the morning, the other fine dining, both with emphasis on seasonal and organic produce. The hotel also has two bars -- a smart indoor lounge and a poolside bar. A spa offers a range of treatments as well as a steam rooms and sauna, and a gym is also on-site. Kids have colorful in- and outdoor play areas with plenty of toys and games, while adults have a separate playroom with pool and darts. Extensive conference and business facilities can also be found on-site.
