Bottom Line

The mid-range, 160-room Hotel Corte Rosada is a tranquil seaside resort along the bay of Porto Conte. Rooms are bland, but they have minibars, flat-screen TVs, and some have views of the ocean from patios. Outdoors is where the hotel shines, offering a large pool and separate kids' pool, stretch of beach with loungers, tennis courts, and water sports, all surrounded by lush green hills. Spa services, a small gym with beautiful views, and quality food at the two restaurants round out the facilities. One drawback is that the beach is rocky and not suitable for swimming, though there are swimmable beaches nearby. Note that the hotel is about a 20-minute drive from Alghero, with few restaurants within walking distance. For those who prefer to be closer to the action, check out the Calabona Hotel.

Hotel Corte Rosada Resort & Spa

Scene

Peaceful, seafront resort that attracts even numbers of families and couples

Maybe it's the seafront setting or the pine forest surrounding the hotel, but the Hotel Corte Rosada feels more private than other hotels in the area. It’s ideal for couples who want a romantic destination, but the hotel also sees families taking advantage of the quiet time away and the available nature-centric activities. There's plenty of room to breathe, thanks to spacious lounge areas and expansive, well-manicured grounds. The airy lobby has modern wicker seating with white cushions and teal throw pillows, a wooden piano, and large, colorful paintings from a local artist. The adjacent restaurant -- and rooms -- also have contemporary furnishings, though the neutral-tone palette in these areas can feel a bit bland. Fortunately, the surrounding water and hillside views give the hotel some pizazz.

Location

Quiet spot between a nature reserve and a beach

Hotel Corte Rosada is located within the Bay of Porto Conte, a large natural harbor. It’s about a 20-minute drive from the nearest town of Alghero, full of restaurants, nightlife, and tourist activities. A local bus stop is near the hotel and goes into Alghero as well. There’s not much immediately surrounding the hotel other than nature and sea activities; hiking and biking trails are located available. The Capo Gallera Diving Center is a 12-minute drive away, the limestone landmark of Punta Giglio is a 13-minute drive, and the Caves of Neptune is a16 minutes. There are only a couple of restaurants within walking distance of the hotel, so many travelers choose to rent a car. The Alghero airport is a 15-minute drive away, and the hotel offers airport shuttle service for a fee.

Rooms

Contemporary, albeit bland rooms with balcony or patio seating

The hotel consists of 160 air-conditioned rooms in 10 two-story buildings, with furnished balconies or patios overlooking the garden, pool, or sea. Rooms have a neutral-tone palette and contemporary pale-wood furnishings; overall the spaces are bland, expect for a decorative design on the headboards and colorful blue-tiled bathrooms. Most rooms run around 170 square feet (15.8 meters) and interconnecting rooms are available for families or large groups. Amenities across the board include small flat-screen TVs, free Wi-Fi, minibars, safes, and work desks. Bathrooms are equipped with small stall showers, bidets, wall-mounted hairdryers, and basic bulk soap dispensers.

Features

Recreational activities, open-air dining, and gym with beautiful views

For those who come to explore the natural surroundings, the hotel has a few available features. For water activities, an on-site diving center is available for snorkeling, scuba diving, and sailing, while bikes for rent allow guests to explore the surrounding park. The private sandy beach is lined with blue loungers and umbrellas, but it has a rocky floor that prevents some guests from swimming in it. There is a jetty that allows for easier access into the water, or there are more swimmable beaches within easy walking distance. Many guests also choose to instead hang around the large outdoor pool, which has a separate kids' pool and is surrounded by a deck lined with loungers.

A small gym has stunning views of the sea and gardens, and is equipped with a handful of cardio and weight-training equipment. Tennis courts are also available, as is a playground. The small spa offers a variety of massages and treatments. Wi-Fi is free and reliable. Babysitting service and airport transfers are available for a fee.

All rates include a buffet breakfast, and half-board options are available as well. There are two on-site restaurants serving well-reviewed local fare, plus a bar that serves cocktails and coffee. An outdoor terrace provides pretty water views.
