Scene
This historic Savannah property has pleasant, traditional interiors and a lovely outdoor courtyard.
Housed in two adjoining Federal-style mansions that date back to 1855, the Presidents’ Quarter Inn is a charming boutique property with a homey atmosphere and rich history that attracts mostly couples and leisure tourists who value the central location in Savannah's historic district. An ivy-covered entrance leads onto the property, which also features a lovely brick-lined courtyard skirted in greenery and filled with wrought-iron patio furniture. Guests are greeted in a cozy lobby with exposed brick walls, wooden antique pieces, and a wafting smell of fresh laundry emanating from the laundry room. Two staircases lined in gold patterned carpeting lead up to rooms that are spread out over four floors, with several stylish and comfy sitting areas interspersed throughout the hallways and near the elevators. The intimate setting promotes socializing among guests, especially in the afternoons when free wine and hors d'oeuvres are served in the cozy dining parlor that features pale yellow walls, white trim, and classic wooden chairs and tables.
Location
Centrally located in Savannah’s historic district; a short walk from many sights
Located one block from Oglethorpe Square, the Presidents’ Quarters Inn is situated on a highly-trafficked street in the center of Savannah’s historic district. The area -- filled with historic architecture, oak trees, and town squares -- is home to a few other inns and hotels, as well as several restaurants and bars that are a short walk away. The convenient location is within walking distance of many sights, including the Colonial Park Cemetery (three-minute walk), the Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist (eight-minute walk), and the Juliette Gordon Low Birthplace (five-minute walk). City Market and River Street, home to many shops, restaurants, bars, and the Old Town Trolley, are also accessible on foot in about 10 minutes. Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport is 25 minutes away.
Rooms
Spacious, Southern-style rooms have decorative fireplaces and four-poster beds; some have balconies.
The 16 rooms and suites at the inn are named after U.S. presidents who have visited Savannah. Each is elegantly decorated with 19th-century antiques and reproductions, decorative fireplaces, and four-poster or two-poster beds. The spacious rooms are filled with natural light and feature soft colors accented by details like colorful pillows on comfortable beds and armchairs covered in toile or floral patterns. Some rooms feature exposed brick walls and have balconies. The two-level Thomas Jefferson and George Washington suites have loft bedrooms, full and half bathrooms, sofa beds in sitting areas, and granite wet bars with mini-fridges. All rooms have flat-screen TVs, iPod docks, writing desks, fluffy bathrobes, and free Wi-Fi, but lack minibars/mini-fridges and tea- and coffee-making facilities (some of the suites are an exception). Free bottled water is also provided and nightly turndown service includes pillow chocolates. Bathrooms are fairly large and comfortable, with shower/tub combos and large vanities and mirrors. Travelers should note that street-side rooms (especially on lower floors) can be noisy due to traffic, pedestrians, and regular ghost tours that pass by the area.
