Bottom Line

This upscale hotel is located smack-dab in the heart of Downtown Seattle, within walking distance of major attractions like the Pike Place Market and the waterfront. It has gorgeous amenities that make it stand apart from most other hotels in the area, including a virtual golf system, a full-service spa with a wonderful (and expensive) menu of personalized treatments, and an acclaimed (and locally popular) restaurant on-site. The sexy, glass-enclosed bathrooms with tubs that fill from the ceiling and separate walk-in showers are arguably the highlight of the high-tech and modern (though somewhat dark) rooms. Overall, it's certainly luxurious, but the feel is that of a glossed-up Westin or Kimpton -- it lacks the nuances of a truly high-end brand, such as Rosewood.

Loews Hotel 1000, Seattle

Location

In hopping Downtown Seattle, close to restaurants, bars, shopping, and sights

This property couldn’t place you in a better spot for enjoying all that Seattle has to offer. Situated on First Avenue and Madison Street, the hotel is a five-minute walk from many of the city’s most coveted attractions, as well as a wide range of popular restaurants and shops. First Avenue, which features several stairwells leading down to the city’s bustling waterfront area, has long shed its ancient reputation as a seedy part of town, and now boasts some of the most eclectic boutiques, salons, restaurants, and coffee stops. Have a hankering for a dash of culture? The Seattle Art Museum is a quick walk down the street, as is Benaroya Hall -- the city’s premier classic-music and opera venue.

And because no visit to Seattle is complete without a few hours at the famed Pike Place Market, you’ll be happy to know that this popular “three-F” hot spot -- flying fish, flowers, and fabulous food -- is also just five blocks up the Avenue. For a taste of old Seattle, a 10-minute walk takes you to historic Pioneer Square, known for its vintage storefronts, restaurants, and art galleries, plus Qwest Field (home of the Seattle Seahawks) and Safeco Field (home to the Mariners).

  • 20-minute drive to Seattle-Tacoma International Airport
  • 3-minute walk to Seattle Art Museum
  • 5-minute walk to Washington State ferry terminals for travel to local islands
  • 6-minute walk to Pioneer Square
  • 7-minute walk to Pike Place Market
  • 9-minute walk to the Seattle Aquarium and waterfront
  • 5-minute drive or 25-minute walk to the Space Needle and Seattle Center
  • 5-minute drive to cruise terminals
