Bottom Line

Silver Cloud Hotel - Seattle Stadium is an upper-middle-range business property that caters largely to corporate travelers as well as tourists visiting Seattle to take in events at neighboring CenturyLink Field and Safeco Field. The 179 rooms are similar in terms of decor and amenities, with large flat-screen TVs, microwaves, and mini-fridges, and some have whirlpool hot tubs and fireplaces. Amenities include an outdoor rooftop pool (only open in the summer), a fitness center, and a great pub-style restaurant with a large selection of local wines and craft brews. Overall, it's a great place to stay for business travelers, but those wanting something a bit more intimate may want to consider the Inn at the Market, which is right in Pike Place Market.

Silver Cloud Hotel – Seattle Stadium

Scene

Business hotel with pleasant, if simple decor, and a lively restaurant

Silver Cloud is a business hotel set in a nine-story red-brick building in the heart of downtown Seattle. The overall look and feel is borderline generic in a bog-standard business hotel kind of way. But it's not at all unpleasant, with a bright lobby featuring a neutral color scheme complete with beige, brown, and blue sofas and chairs and high ceilings with recessed lighting. There's also a restaurant, Jimmy's on Broadway, with a busier decor scheme. Think: big windows and lots of high-stool booth seating, plus a few sports-related displayed accents (balls, helmets, bats), a nod to the hotel's location near the local sports stadium. The hotel attracts a mix of tourists (including many in town for sports games) and business travelers, but is designed to cater largely to the latter.

Location

Central Seattle location, a short drive from the Seattle Center and Pike Place Market

As the name suggest, this hotel is located right at Seattle Stadium in downtown Seattle, just off the junction of the I-5 and the I-90. It's about a 15-minute drive south fo the Seattle Center, where many of the city's major attractions (notably, the Space Needle, the Chihuly Museum, and the Museum of Pop Culture) are located. Pike Place Market is a 14-minute drive away. King Street Station, where the Amtrak train stops, is a 10-minute drive away and getting to the Greyhound Bus Station takes about five minutes. The Seattle-Tacoma International Airport takes about 20 minutes to reach by car without traffic, but can take twice as long to get to during peak rush hour.

Rooms

Pleasant rooms with big flat-screen TVs, microwaves, and mini-fridges, some with hot tubs

The Silver Cloud offers five guest room types, all with similar business hotel-style decor and amenities, plus wheelchair-accessible rooms with king and two queen-size bed configurations. Guests can expect green lightly patterned carpets, heavy blackout drapes with thick stripes in hues of muted red, blue, and green, and darkish wood-finish furniture that matches brown headboards and trim. Muted yellow walls and large windows add lots of light to the space, and red-and-beige swirl pattern bed runners create some pizazz. All rooms come with 55-inch flat-screen TVs, wet bars with coffeemakers (and Seattle's Best Coffee), mini-fridges, microwaves, and free high-speed Wi-Fi. Most rooms have just one king bed, though two queen-bedded rooms are available and Deluxe King Bed Rooms add sleeper sofas. King Jacuzzi Rooms add fireplaces and whirlpool hot tubs in the living areas. Bathrooms are spacious, if generic, with shower/tub combos, Aveda brand toiletries, and huge mirrors, and large granite-topped counters.

Features

Fitness facilities, outdoor pool and hot tub, and restaurant with great beer selection

Amenities at this hotel are geared toward business travelers and include a small business center with printing facilities and a couple of computers, free hotel-wide Wi-Fi, and three event spaces, two of which can be joined together to accommodate up to 150 people, reception style. All sorts of audiovisual equipment is available with advanced request, and the hotel provides a huge array of catering options, including gluten-free and vegan menus. Wellness facilities include a small fitness center in a carpeted room with a few cardio machines and free weights. There's also a lovely outdoor deck on the ninth floor with a small pool, a whirlpool hot tub, and lots of lounge chairs and tables with chairs for seating. Unfortunately, but unsurprisingly given Seattle's notoriously cool, rainy climate, the pool is only open during the hotter months of the year.

The hotel also has a restaurant, Jimmy's on Broadway, which serves all sorts of pub food plus an extensive breakfast. Jimmy's also serves lots of local wines and international spirits, and they keep 22 craft beers on tap. Huge discounts on food and cocktails are available at the twice-daily happy hour.

Other hotel features include a small gift shop with toiletries as well as chips, cookies, and other packaged snack items. There's also a laundry room that's free for guest use (though detergent must be purchased separately). On-site parking is available, but it's expensive (not unusual for city center hotels). One nice perk is a free shuttle to and from cruise ship terminals.
