Bottom Line

Mid-range Hotel Abanico Sevilla is located on a narrow street in a central area of Sevilla's historic district. Restaurants, shops, and public transportation are within easy walking distance. Inside of an 18th century building, this hotel is charming and quaint. Rooms have antique features like bright Spanish tile and light fixtures, but the style lacks polish and at times feels dated. Some rooms have balconies with city views while others have bars or grates on the windows. Additionally, some rooms receive street noise. There is a quality breakfast buffet and an on-site cafe offers free items such as coffee and pastries. Wi-Fi is free (though the connection may be poor). This hotel does not offer any on-site parking.

Hotel Abanico Sevilla

Scene

A historic hotel with old world charm

Housed in an 18th century building, the Hotel Abanico Sevilla has Andalusian architecture and charm. A large skylight provides natural light to the hotel’s lovely inner courtyard. This may be a no-frills hotel, it’s still quaint and comfortable. Yellow arches, beautiful antique tile work, vintage hanging light fixtures, and pink tile provide character and make the lobby feel homey. Classic wood chairs, a wooden ceiling, and vintage tile give the breakfast room a cozy feel. Wood furniture throughout with stripes and floral prints provides extra seating and wrought iron doors showcase the building’s history. Free coffee, tea, and newspapers are available in the lobby and there are two public restrooms with white, tan, and black tile. This hotel may not have many extras, but it shows off classic and antique design well. The atmosphere is quiet and relaxed.

Rooms

Rooms with antique features, though they vary in size

All of the rooms at this hotel have varying sizes and layouts, but all have free newspapers, air-conditioning, and flat-screen TVs. Wood features cover most rooms in the furniture, flooring, and doors, and there are high ceilings plus antique lighting and colorful Spanish tile. Some rooms have charming brickwork and balconies with city views. Green or blue walls match the bed runners and skirts, but the floral curtains and other adornments look a bit dated. Rooms do have windows and stained glass, but many have bars or metal grates over them. Family rooms include baby kits, cribs (upon request), and can fit up to four people. Although all rooms are soundproofed, street-side rooms suffer noise at times. Standard bathrooms are small with bidets, magnifying mirrors, and nice wood or vintage tile flooring. There is essentially no counter space since there is only a single pedestal sink, and some rooms only have showers.
