Hotel Ateneo Sevilla is set within a historic building that was once a private residence. It’s an elegant affair that can feel a bit quirky in some places, but tourists -- mostly couples -- usually enjoy the design. Historical details like stone archways have been preserved, and there’s quite a lot of antique wooden furniture. The lobby has a large square atrium with walls that are half-pink and half-green. There’s also a checkered marble floor, lush red seating, and lovely elements like a gold telescope, large tapestry, and golden chandelier. The breakfast room is similarly elegant with red walls, red antique chairs, and a wooden table sitting under a large chandelier. Overall, it’s a quiet hotel with a historic, sophisticated vibe that most guests enjoy. 

Hotel Ateneo Sevilla is located in the city center surrounded by restaurants, bars, and small shops. The Metropol Parasol is just a four-minute walk away. The Seville Cathedral is a 12-minute walk south, while the Real Alcazar sits a few minutes further down the road. It takes 30 minutes on foot to reach Plaza de Espana and 23 minutes to Torre del Oro. The Seville Airport is a 22-minute drive away. 

The 10 rooms at Hotel Ateneo Sevilla vary in style -- some are simply but artfully decorated in a classic style with antique wooden furniture, cream beds, tiled floors, and Renaissance-era paintings. Others are a bit more elegant, especially the Deluxe Junior Suite which has a heavy wood presence, extravagant antique furniture, a Baroque-style headboard, and an enormous Neo-Gothic library carved out of mahogany wood. Amenities in all the rooms include flat-screen TVs, minibars, kettles, free Wi-Fi, and air-conditioning. Bathrooms have black-and-white marble, vanity kits, toiletries, bidets, and glass showers. The Deluxe Junior Suite includes a shower/tub combo with jets in the tub. Most rooms have pleasant street and city views. 

There are many memorable features at Hotel Ateneo Sevilla. The hotel’s swimming pool may be small, but it sits in a charming little courtyard with a white table and chairs. There’s also a breakfast buffet with cold cuts, cheeses, pastries, fruit, and a few hot items. It’s not included in room rates, however, it’s served in a lavish red-accented breakfast room. A wooden bar offers a variety of drinks to guests. Visitors can interact or relax with a book from the library in a cozy lounge which provides armchairs, couches, and chairs. There’s free Wi-Fi throughout, though reports vary on the reliability. The hotel doesn’t have parking on-site, though there’s a nearby public parking lot.
