Bottom Line

The Vertice Sevilla is a mid-range chain hotel, situated about 45 minutes west of Seville’s main tourist area via public transportation. Because it's located just a seven-minute drive from a large convention center, it caters largely to business travelers (the airport is also nearby). The hotel is clean and adequate in terms of comfort, but has a generic feel from mauve vinyl easy chairs in the lobby to the laminate wood furniture throughout. There is a fitness center with a dry sauna, an outdoor pool that converts to an indoor pool in the winter, and free breakfast for early risers. Most agree that the neighborhood holds little appeal and that room decor is a little dated, but that the rooms are comfortable and the property is a good value.

Hotel Vertice Sevilla

Scene

Plain, chain hotel with concrete exterior and bland common areas

Vertice Sevilla is a 10-story tower set in a residential neighborhood. The lobby is a marble-tiled affair with a few mauve vinyl armchairs. Hallways have drop ceilings and slightly worn carpeting. Business travelers and tourists on a budget who don’t mind taking the bus into town constitute the majority of guests. Overall the atmosphere is generic and mainly geared towards business travelers, though the outdoor/indoor pool and fitness center are convenient touches.

Location

45 minutes from Alcàzar via bus, to the west of the town center in a bland location full of residential apartment buildings

Downtown Seville is directly accessible via a bus that leaves from a stop a three-minute walk from the hotel’s front door (about 45 minutes total travel time to Alcàzar.) Fibes convention center is a seven-minute drive, or 25 minutes by bus. A shopping mail, residential apartment buildings, and small bars and restaurants fill the streets immediately surrounding the hotel. The airport is an eight-minute drive away.

Rooms

Simple but clean rooms, with laminate wood floors, mauve decor, and lots of storage space

Ample laminate wood closets and shelving match the laminate wood floors in these simple rooms with mauve and gold bedspreads, glass-topped desks and bedside tables, and little else besides a single armchair and a flat-screen TV. Suites have a separate living area painted a cheerier tone of canary yellow, and contain a full size work desk, a couch, and an extra TV. All rooms have a hairdryer, air-conditioning, a small flat-screen TV, the occasional piece of modern art, a safe, a minimally stocked minibar, and a makeup mirror. Most rooms have a small balcony. Bathrooms, which are on the slightly small side, have a tiled shower/tub combo with a glass half-door in lieu of a curtain.

Features

Indoor/outdoor pool, fitness center with sauna, business corner, and breakfast room

A small, turf-flanked pool surrounded by a concrete wall has the ability to turn into an indoor pool in the winter via a retractable glass domed cover. There is a medium-size, wood-floored fitness center with a handful each of exercise and weight machines in addition to some free weights and a dry sauna. Guests may use a computer in the lobby for Internet access in addition to the free Wi-Fi. Guests take the morning breakfast buffet in a modern breakfast room, but past guests have complained about food quantity and quality. There's an honesty bar near reception.
