Hilton Seychelles Northolme Resort & Spa

The Hilton Seychelles Northolme Resort & Spa is a quiet, secluded couples retreat with lots of lounging space, much of it with spectacular Indian Ocean views. The beach feels like a hidden desert island cove, and the rest of the property resembles a tropical garden paradise, with lots of hammocks and elegant wicker armchairs, cushioned sofas, and lounge chairs facing the ocean. The open-air restaurants and lobby have peaked wooden ceilings in the classic Seychellois style. Rich browns and light marble are brightened up with turquoise accents and upholstery and mosaic columns in watery colors. The infinity pool looks as if it flows directly into the ocean waves. An airy, spacious feel lends itself to a contemplative stay far from the hustle of modern city life, with breaks for yoga, kayaking, and floating while communing with the resident sea life. This decidedly romantic atmosphere tends to draw couples, and children under 12 aren't allowed, which maintains the tranquil feel.

The Hilton Seychelles Northolme Resort & Spa is located on the western coast of Mahe, surrounded by hotels, but still secluded-feeling. The resort overlooks Beau Vallon Bay, with Beau Vallon Beach just a 15-minute walk down the road. The Northolme’s beach is small and can feel crowded, but the island’s beaches are all within a short drive, and the resort has plenty of free parking. There are restaurants and shops within a quick walk of the resort. The center of Seychelles’ capital city, Victoria, is just a 10-minute drive away, and Seychelles National Botanical Gardens are a 15-minute drive away. Getting to the airport takes around 25 minutes by car. 

The Hilton Seychelles Northolme Resort & Spa is made up of large, clean private villas, all with sea views and private decks. Beach Villas are closer to the reception area and the resort’s restaurants, while Hillside Villas are a little quieter and more secluded. However, there is no bad choice on the property. Interiors are blanketed in wood, which gives them a bit of a modern cabin feel. The traditional furniture -- caned benches, campaign desks -- matches the floor-to-ceiling wood. Bedrooms have four-poster canopy beds with filmy white curtains that invite romance. The walls are hung with bright paintings and interesting artwork. Balconies are spacious, with room for tables and chairs, sun beds, and even double-wide lounge chairs. Amenities include air-conditioning, flat-screen TVs with premium channels, DVD players, espresso makers, minibars, and laptop safes. Wood-lined bathrooms are sumptuous, with vessel sinks, freestanding whirlpool tubs, and separate open showers, all with great views of the sea. 

The Hilton Seychelles Northolme Resort & Spa features a beautiful freeform infinity pool that appears to flow right into the Indian Ocean beyond. There are plenty of sun beds and beach umbrellas for poolside lounging. The Northolme sits on a strip of white-sand beach, but there's also a free shuttle to nearby Beau Vallon Beach. On-site water sports include free kayaking and snorkeling. There's a spacious 24-hour fitness center loaded with up-to-date cardio and weight equipment, with a private sun terrace for after-workout relaxation. A yoga pavilion is also on-site. Duniye Spa offers a complete menu of spa and beauty treatments, including Balinese, Thai, and Swedish massage along with Reiki energy work. The gift shop sells clothing and handicrafts, souvenirs, stationery, and necessities such as sunscreen.

There are three restaurants at the resort. Les Cocotiers is a fine-dining restaurant serving Creole cuisine. The Hilltop Restaurant serves buffet-style meals, with themed nights featuring a rotation of Creole, Italian, and Asian menus. The Oceanview Bar and Restaurant serves snacks, signature cocktails, and fresh fruit juices and often features live music performances. But 24-hour room service is also available for those that would rather eat in their villas.
