Four Seasons Resort Seychelles

Baie Lazare, Mahe Island

The luxurious Four Seasons Resort Seychelles sits on a private white-sand beach, and offers a full spectrum of water sports, including surfing (each guest gets a free 30-minute lesson), stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking, windsurfing, boogie boarding, and sailing. Families can make use of the fun kids' area, with a children’s pool, tire swings, gardens, and even sea turtles, as well as programmed kids' and teen activities to keep the younger set busy. Guests stay in individual treetop-level villas, each with its own private plunge pool, whirlpool, and outdoor shower. The resort provides special kids' amenities and child-sized bathrobes. The spa features a mini-spa menu for kids that includes hair braiding and mani-pedis.

2

Constance Lemuria

Anse Kerlan, Praslin Island

The majority of Constance Lemuria's guests are couples, many on their honeymoon, yet the beachfront resort's ample child-friendly facilities make it suitable for families. The 105 suites and villas offer expansive interior and exterior living spaces, some with private pools and butler service. A multi-tiered pool is the centerpiece of the resort, though one of the hotel's most attractive features is its easy access to three pristine white-sand beaches. Multiple dining options include a beachfront eatery and fine-dining restaurant. A kids' club provides organized fun for children ages 4 to 11. Typical activities include guided island exploration, local crafts, cooking classes, and scavenger hunts. The resort also offers two floodlit tennis courts, mountain bikes, and non-motorized water sports. Wi-Fi is free throughout the property. Aging decor, however, is in need of a refresh.

3

Raffles Seychelles

Anse Takamaka, Praslin Island

Like many hotels in the Seychelles, the luxurious Raffles Seychelles caters mostly to honeymooners and couples. Unlike some of its competitors, though, Raffles does accommodate families, and is one of only a handful of luxury resorts in the Seychelles to offer a dedicated kids' club. The small kids' club is for ages 4 to 12 (babysitters can be arranged for younger children for a fee), and a recreation club for teenagers offers organized activities such as movie nights. The resort has its own small stretch of white-sand beach, but Praslin is known for its beautiful beaches, and one of the world’s top-rated is just a 10-minute drive from the property. The resort’s remote location means that guests will need a car if they want to explore the sleepy island, but the amenities -- three restaurants, a spa, ample water sports, and the largest infinity pool in the Indian Ocean -- make it easy to stay on site. The 86 contemporary villas are generous in size, offering outdoor pavilions with areas to dine and lounge as well as private plunge pools.

4

Families will appreciate the large kids’ club (for ages 4 to 12), which has both outdoor and indoor play areas, plus babysitting services (for a fee). While many guests are couples with romance in mind, the kids club, spacious villas, and many activities draw families, too.

5

Kempinski Seychelles Resort Baie Lazare

Baie Lazare, Mahe Island

The 148-room Kempinski Seychelles Resort is a posh family-friendly property on a white sand beach in Mahe’s exclusive Baie Lazare area. Adjoining rooms are available upon request. A variety of dining and drinking options throughout the resort offer breezy, open-air seating. Wi-Fi is free throughout, but the connection can be slow.

6

Constance Ephelia

Mahe Island, Seychelles

The 309-room Constance Ephelia is a four-pearl resort with extensive and lush grounds on Mahe Island in the Seychelles. Its two beautiful beaches are stunners and a plethora of features draw plenty of couples and families. There are five restaurants and bars, though food and drinks are expensive, as are extra activities, like snorkeling, diving, and zip-lining. Kids are well catered for here with a large, comprehensive kids’ club (for ages 4 to 11) with indoor and outdoor play areas, games, a computer station, a trampoline, and even a mini rock-climbing wall. The resort has a huge, beautiful spa -- one of the largest in the Seychelles -- with 18 treatment rooms and a wide list of treatments (even ones for kids), as well as a sauna, steam room, thermal pool, hot tub, cold plunge pool, and yoga pavilion. A variety of simple, modern rooms, suites, and villas include features ranging from large furnished terraces to private pools set in tropical gardens. Wi-Fi and breakfast are both free.

7

Beachcomber Sainte Anne Resort & Spa

Set on a 543-acre private island that's part of a national marine park, this family-oriented resort features 87 large villas, some with private pools, that are well-suited to families and honeymooners alike. Highlights here include three beaches, free water sports equipment, excellent snorkeling, a huge lagoon-style pool, and a Clarins Spa. The secluded island location and optional all-inclusive rates keep guests on property, but the resort is just a 10-minute boat ride to Mahe, the largest island in the Seychelles. While the private island setting delivers an idyllic getaway vibe, the hotel misses the advertised five-star resort mark when it comes to decor, service, and maintenance.

8

There are three restaurants and bars on-site as well as a lovely outdoor pool surrounded by beautiful landscaping and a large sundeck lined with seating. Young ones are catered to with a kids' pool and a soft-surfaced playground with swings, slides, and seesaws. Guest rooms are simply styled and a bit bland, plus some are due for renovation, but they make for a good base in an area where the outdoor scene is lush and restful. The resort is a 10-minute drive to the capital of Victoria (a free daily shuttle is provided). Wi-Fi incurs an added fee.

10

Le Duc de Praslin

Anse Volbert, Praslin Island

The 36-room Le Duc de Praslin on Praslin Island has a beautiful garden filled with flowers, fish ponds, waterfalls -- even giant tortoises. Though the upscale resort is not directly on the beach, it’s just a short walk away and there are two lovely, chlorine-free outdoor pools on-site as well. Other amenities include a restaurant and a trendy lounge, a small spa, and a shop selling clothes and souvenirs. Family Rooms have living rooms; large terraces; stocked, full refrigerators; and microwaves.

11

Le Repaire Boutique Hotel

La Digue Island, Seychelles

The petite Le Repaire Boutique Hotel is a warm, family-oriented boutique hotel located near the center of La Digue’s main village and right on a private beach. Tropical gardens with shady rosewood and takamaka trees give the upscale property a close-to-nature feel. The nine air-conditioned rooms are clean, spacious, and sunlit. Rooms have twin or king beds, and connecting rooms are available for families traveling together. Amenities include flat-screen TVs with satellite channels and mini-fridges. The restaurant serves excellent Italian food with a Seychellois twist, and it's popular with locals and tourists alike. The one downside could be the size of the pool, though it still makes for a refreshing dip.

12

La Digue Island Lodge

La Digue Island, Seychelles

The 61-room La Digue Island Lodge is a three-pearl property located on the lovely white-sand Anse Reunion Beach. Lodging options vary from genteel, plantation-style hotel rooms to thatched-roof chalets set among the gardens. Family rooms are also available. One of the island’s first hotels, the Lodge maintains a strong sense of island history and local Creole culture, while offering modern conveniences, top-notch spa services, a PADI dive center, a large pool with a swim-up bar and separate children's pool, among other luxuries. The La Digue Island Lodge's main restaurant, Veuve, offers traditional Creole cuisine, local seafood, and a children's menu, as well as a free morning breakfast buffet and buffet theme nights. Free Wi-Fi is only available at the reception area.

13

New Emerald Cove

Anse la Blague, Praslin Island

The beachfront New Emerald Cove is only accessible by boat, making for a secluded tropical getaway, but this can be a hindrance for travelers seeking to explore Praslin Island. Standard Rooms have lovely, furnished terraces, while Superior Rooms draw families as they have double beds as well as two single beds. Sea view rooms are available. All rooms have mini-fridges, electric kettles for coffee or tea, safes, and air-conditioning, but no TVs or Wi-Fi.  Activities include fishing, snorkeling tours, and kite surfing, and the free boat shuttle to Praslin Marina operates throughout the day. A beautiful stretch of white-sand beach, a lovely pool, and a decent restaurant and bar draw plenty of families and couples, though travelers should be aware that the resort is a bit dated and doesn’t offer as many amenities as other properties in the area.

14

Villas De Jardin

Port Glaud, Mahe Island

Villas de Jardin is an upscale family-friendly complex of seven one- and two-bedroom self-catering villas, located on a steep hillside above the Indian Ocean. The clean, spacious units are a great spot for families and extended-stay visitors, and all have large decks with great views, romantic outdoor showers, well-stocked kitchens, and chic modern bathrooms. There's no restaurant or bar on-site, but there is an outdoor infinity pool with a deck where guests can relax and socialize, and the hotel is near a grocery store and restaurants.

15

Casa De Leela

La Digue Island, Seychelles

The eight-room Casa De Leela is a family-friendly guesthouse consisting of clean, spacious one- and two-bedroom apartments and bungalows with full kitchens. Located in the heart of Anse Reunion -- but not directly on the beach -- the informal, relaxed Casa is within easy biking distance of everything on the island, and it's an easy-on-the-budget choice for families or low-maintenance couples who appreciate peaceful simplicity. The apartments have big, beautiful verandahs, comfy king-size beds, and a real beach cottage feel. However, it lacks parking, and the Wi-Fi is slow and costs extra.
