Where to stay on (and near) the beach in Florida’s idyllic Siesta Key.
Hyatt Residence Club Sarasota, Siesta Key Beach is an upscale resort located directly on a lovely white-sand beach, with views for miles. Many of Hyatt Residence's 44 condo-style units incredible water views. All are spacious and come with fully equipped kitchens. Even though kitchens come with six-burner Wolf ranges, SubZero refrigerators, and Keurig coffeemakers, the star of the units might be the bathrooms, which are large and beautifully designed with sleek granite counters, heated toilets, and both a standing shower (with a rainfall showerheads) and soaking tub. The hotel doesn't have a full-service restaurant, but its heated pool, fire pits, and grill all overlook the beach.
The Sea Spray Resort is a small, well-maintained beach hotel with old Florida style. It's set in a quiet residential area surrounded by trees, with Siesta Beach a few minutes away by foot. The property's 16 condo-style rooms come with fully equipped kitchens and private patios. The Starfish unit has a small private pool and a barbecue grill. The Sea Spray's pleasant outdoor pool includes a hammock, white lounge chairs, a fire pit, and a stainless-steel barbecue. The hotel also offers a lot of extra freebies, including free laundry facilities, loaner bikes, and property-wide free Wi-Fi. Guests can also borrow rolling beach carts with chairs and parasols, free of charge.
This relaxing, nicely landscaped property is located a quarter of a block from Siesta Key beach, where it has a private area (beach chair rentals and beach towels are free). Guests can join beach yoga sessions twice a week, and the hotel can arrange paddle boat and kayak rentals. Tropical Beach's 70 units include modern studios and one- and two-bedroom suites, all with full kitchens, and most of which are ground-floor level. In addition to the private beach area, guests have access to two outdoor pools, as well as a sunbathing lawn, a gazebo, picnic tables, and a tiki-style barbecue area.
The charming Beach Palms offers furnished suites and colorful cottages across the street from Siesta Key Beach. The hotel's main building and cottages are surrounded by palm trees and lush plants, with plenty of garden furniture, sun loungers, and hammocks scattered about the property. The ocean is visible from the main building and the lovely beach is a short walk away via a path through a grassy border expanse. Beach Palms lacks typical amenities found in most hotels in the area, such as a pool or dining area. Its five suites and cottages have free Wi-Fi, provided beach chairs, and umbrellas, and private gas grills and hammocks outside.
A collection of nine eclectic bungalows, Beachpoint Cottages is a laid-back, family-run property just off Siesta Beach. A fun, beachy vibe is in full swing thanks to quirky local art, colorful buildings, tropical gardens, and a virtually beachfront location (the sand is 100 yards away). The unique cottages are modest in size, but all have full kitchens and one or two bedrooms. The property is full of areas for outdoor dining, drinking, and socializing, including a fire pit, a grill area with tiki umbrella tables, a large thatched roof tiki with porch swings, and plenty of chairs under tropical trees. Beach chairs, umbrellas, carts, and sand toys are free to borrow, and bicycles and kayaks are available to rent.
