Bottom Line

The Hyatt Summerfield Suites Belmont/Redwood Shores is a 132-room extended stay hotel. The modern rooms cater to vacationing families and business travelers alike, and are outfitted with spacious living areas, fully equipped kitchens, and work areas with desks. The hotel offers a free breakfast buffet, and while it’s filling (with bacon, waffles, and fruit), guests might find the powdered eggs unappetizing. There’s also an “Evening Social” event Monday through Thursday in the lounge with free finger foods, wine, and beer -- a nice way to unwind and meet fellow guests. The outdoor pool and adjacent grilling and picnic area are great for families, and the fitness center and sports court provide options for a good workout. However, it's not a full-service hotel and thus lacks the basics, such as an on-site restaurant and a porter to help with luggage (there’s no elevator). There are restaurants nearby, but otherwise the hotel is a bit isolated, and without a car it’s difficult to get around.

HYATT house Belmont/Redwood Shores

Location

Located in the city of Belmont close to Redwood Shores and near Silicon Valley’s northern border

Hyatt Summerfield Suites is located in Belmont, a city in San Mateo County that features the historic landmark of Ralston Hall -- built by Bank of America founder William Chapman Ralston -- and the Notre Dame de Namur University campus. Redwood Shores, nearby, is a wealthy waterfront community filled with million-dollar homes, pricey condominiums, and private boating docks.

Silicon Valley, originally named for its many silicon chip manufacturers, was considered to be the center of the late ‘90s dot-com bubble. It has grown to become the home of some of the most innovative technological companies in the world, such as Apple, Google, and Adobe. Located in the southern part of the San Francisco Bay Area, Silicon Valley remains a hot spot for venture capitalists, too, making it the ideal place to be if you’re a digital startup.

  • 17-minute drive to San Francisco International Airport
  • 6-minute drive to Hiller Aviation Museum
  • 7-minute drive to Ralston Hall
  • 7-minute drive Notre Dame de Namur University
  • 9-minute drive to Hillsdale Shopping Center
  • 10-minute drive to San Mateo County Event Center
  • 25-minute drive to Silicon Valley
