Fortuna Hotel

The Fortuna Hotel is a no-frills property designed for budget travelers, and it attracts many Indian guests due to it's location in the heart of Little India. The seven-story building is hard to miss with a massive window-wall accented with bright red. The ground floor features entrances to other businesses, and guests walk into the hotel through double glass doors where a narrow entryway with brown and green marbled floors leads to a massive wood reception desk. The only place to sit here is on a pair of wooden benches. This is it for common spaces: The rest of the hotel is dedicated to guest rooms. 

The exterior of the Fortuna Hotel features a Western Union and the hotel's front doors are tucked between a tourist office and a sundry store on a busy main street in Little India. Mustafa Market, a popular 24-hour shopping mall, is right around the corner, about a three-minute walk, and lots of restaurants dot the lively neighborhood. Most of the sights outside of the neighborhood are pretty easily accessible via the Farrer Park MRT Station, about a three-minute walk.

Fortuna's small, simple guest rooms are comfortable with tasteful (if generic) decor. Wood or carpeted floors, brown or mustard-colored walls, and wood furniture are common features. Wear and tear are visible throughout, though most guests find that the hotel is adequately clean for a budget property. Bathrooms feature marbled tiling on the walls and combo showers and tubs with shower curtains. 

All rooms are air conditioned and have flat-screen TVs, coffee/tea service with electric kettles, mini-fridges, and very basic toiletries, but no in-room safes. Wi-Fi is free, though some guests find the service unreliable. Family Rooms feature a row of beds and can sleep up to four guests. 

The hotel has few extra property features. There's a reception desk and welcome area, but no real lobby or common spaces for hanging out. There's no restaurant on-site; breakfast is offered for an extra fee, though guests tend to find it mediocre. Guests generally find front desk staff helpful. Service here is basic, however laundry service can be arranged. Wi-Fi is free, though some say it's spotty.
